A most wonderful and unexpected surprise! We came in for lunch as we had seen the restaurant many times in the past, but it was always very busy. Of course, this is usually a very good sign and this was also the case! We arrived five minutes after the restaurant closes at 1:30 p.m. for a break, but we were both welcomed just the same and enjoyed a superb lunch! We live in Southport and enjoy the variety of restaurants that are primarily located on Lord street, but this is a fantastic place to eat and relax! The service from Alessandro, the waiter, was exceptional and the chef, Antonio, took the time to come and have a word with us as we enjoyed a superb cup of coffee after our meal. This was a very memorable meal and turned lunchtime into a very pleasant event! We ordered one of the lunch specials and one of the options were garlic mushrooms which set the tone for the rest of the meal! I highly recommend that people stop and have lunch at Trattoria 51 in Southport if they are visiting, or live in the area. I honestly believe that you will be missing a treat if you pass up the chance to enjoy an exceptionally fine and casual dining experience here. Be hungry...
Read moreFirst of all I just want to say, it was pre pandemic I experienced the trattoria 51 in Liverpool city centre and that has always been spot on! Everything from the atmosphere to the service and food! 5* Our parents were down the weekend in Southport so we went over to meet them!
Pros- staff friendly, clean, my parents in law enjoyed their food (they ordered a chilli chicken dish) one enjoyed the chicken wings he said they were lovely , starter came out at a decent time (about 15 mins) the rosemary and seasalt bread were nice also
Cons- didn't receive mains until 1 hour 20 (in all fairness they did give us a free drink each which I'll give credit where credit is due, I was challenged when asking where the mains are and its way too long to be waiting (kept getting told different times) My partner ordered prawns for a starter and they were £10 (way way too expensive for what it was!!!) We both got the crab ravioli which is to DIE for in the Liverpool restaurant, but was way way too lemony the sauce, the quality of the pasta was nowhere near as well prepared. I know I had something to compare it to but I can't help it as the Liverpool one is...
Read moreWent here last night and it was amazing. Very well organised with regards to Covid and felt very safe. Tables were nicely spaced out and the restaurant was well ventilated. I had a vegetable stack for starter and it was delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned. I asked the dreaded question "what can you make me for a main dish that's vegan and gluten free?". I wasnt expecting much, this is sometimes the point where restaurants look confused and offer a plate of Lettuce! But I was told that I could have pasta or pizza. I chose pizza and it was so good! Possibly the best vegan pizza I've ever had. I don't know which vegan cheese they used - but it melted beautifully and tasted great! There was also dairy free ice cream so I could have dessert too. Again not always the case when I eat out. Staff really friendly and I felt like all of my dietary needs were really well looked after. I will definitely eat here again - and if you are vegan or GF you should try here as the food...
