Spent the weekend here as the kids wanted to get away so we picked this place at random. The beach whilst vast isn’t really a beach you can go down and have a picnic and play around with on as most of it is under water and when the tide goes out, the sand is very wet. Saying that the beach goes on forever and if you are planning to walk on the sand, make sure you wear your wellies!! The pier is one of the longest piers I have been on and is great for a walk although it can get a little windy at times! There is even a little train which takes you up and down which is worth a go. At the end of the pier there is a cafe and amusement arcade with some old school penny games which was great for nostalgia. The cafe does a great hot chocolate and the ice cream was lovely. There is also a little hut serving fresh donuts which you can never resist because the smell draws you to them. Very friendly lady who served us and even gave us extra donuts! We stayed at Ocean Plaza which was very handy with free parking although the Pleasureland didn’t look that busy and very tired so we gave that a miss.

The Covid-19 lockdown has been very difficult, so we went to Southport beach to try and keep the kids happy, and it was really good. We started on the beach which was so quiet it was perfect, we were never close to anyone. The tide was out so the my son and daughter took off their shoes and ran towards the sea (they never got to it, but went for ever!) We followed them out, had a play and then came back... they loved it and stayed safe. There was a McDonald's close by so we got in the car and went through the drive through to remain safe and then sat down outside on the grass. We went for another walk and loved it, we stayed safe and kept our distance. If this Covid-19 eventually goes we will love to go back too, but while it remains we feel safe going back.

SOUTHPORT is a seaside town in Merseyside ENGLAND , Southport lies on the IRISH sea coast and is fringed to the North by Ribble estuary, The town was founded in 1792 When WILLIAM SUTTON a innkeeper from churchtown built a bathing house at what is now the South end of Lord street at that time the area was known as SOUTHHAWES the rapid growth of Southport largely coincided with the industrial Revolution and the victorian era .SOUTHPORTS PIER is the second longest seaside pleasure pier in the British ISLES the town contains examples of Victorian Architecture ,Some parts of the town have names of Viking origen. It's a lovely little seaside town with the beach and sea and hotels and b&b.s. and AMUSMENTS it's a bit more later back than blackpool but is still good for couples or families it has a boating area AMUSEMENT ARCADES some fair RIDES and a little bus tram like that takes you down the pier .it also has little streets with all kinds of shops and restaurants and cafe's it's LOVELY in summer .I remember stolling down the streets eating ice cream checking out all the shops and then going by the pier were there is live music people dancing and singing along .and then having some good old fashioned fish and chips, all the while breathing in the sea air I must say that in my experience the tide is usally out ..having been taken to both Southport and blackpool as a child I would say Southport has not really changed that much there is still some swimming baths there. all in all not a bad place for a day out of a holiday

Went here in a day in August, was absolutely gutted to find the tide didn't come in until 7.30pm! The kids had a beach which didn't even have clear sand, it was all black underneath and not soft to play in. As there was no water and a very hot day, was disappointed to have gone. The scenery however, was nice to enjoy nearby near the lake with swan and flamingo boat rides. The boat rides cost £15 for 30 minutes ( have to time yourself on a mobile) for only 4/5 people on a boat at a time. Two people have to paddle with their feet, can get a bit tiring though. There are some other boats on opposite side which charge £5 for adults and £4 for children each. All in all nyc place to stroll for a walk otherwise if no tide then wouldn't recommend to take your children!

Great day out at a fantastic beach today, read some reviews before we left and saw quite a few moaning about the parking charges, I really cannot understand these people, it does cost five pounds for the whole day , really what do you expect the beach was lovely and clean and we saw the beach patrols keeping the place clean on a number of times during our stay, these people need to be paid and they are doing a fantastic job. We had a great time , beach food bar was reasonably priced and the food was good also the ice creams stalls were not that badly priced. We were that happy with the place that we are going back again while the weather is holding up. I would recommend to anyone who is thinking about going to go and have a great time.

Quiet beach on a brilliant coastline I visited today and the tide was out so couldn't reach the sea to paddle as its dangerous with the quicksand and mud also a few sea puddles left over but instead had a really nice walk along the beach and prom the pier was closed due to issues there was no one hardly about due to off-peak season but still the sun was shining and it was very windy along the seafront here close to cinema bowling alley and retail park the beach aint that far from the town either but If you want to go swimming or paddling I recommend Ainsdale as there is so much room for everyone on the beach
