Food is fabulous - definitely a decent takeaway (rather than eat in place if you can help it!) Independent Burger Joint with branches in Crookes, Sheffield (takeaway) and Chesterfield (eat-in restaurant also), serving lip-smacking burgers and excellent, freshly prepared comfort food.
On the coldest day of the year so far in January, we warmed ourselves up by enjoying a mouth-watering and very messy feast at Brill Burgers in Crookes. Fast food but fresh! The burgers were so juicy and stacked with great ingredients that you could tell were high quality.
We enjoyed; STEAK STACKER BOX – Beef Patty, melted American cheese, succulent steak slices, crispy onion, signature Brill & BBQ sauce in a toasted pretzel bun served with seasoned fries, Brill signature dip, 3x chicken strips, 5x Onion Rings and a choice of drink. PROPER FEAST. Only criticism is the lack of steak slices to what we expected, but this box meal is great value for money and a hungry tummy!!(£15.50) MIGHT MEXICAN BURGER – Beef patty, Brill tangy salsa, premium jalapenos, crispy onion, garlic mayo and spicy Brill mayo in a toasted pretzel bun. – comes with lettuce, beef tomato and pickles and served with seasoned fries and signature dip. Loved this, the salsa had kidney beans which was a great addition. The chips, chicken strips and onion rings were just right and we loved the signature dip to accompany everything as well. The Crookes branch does have a small seating area but is mainly a takeaway branch open daily from 3pm (closed Mondays) and available on Just Eat, Deliveroo and their own website for collection. Read moreWe went there to have dinner due to the high rating in Google Maps. After reading reviews like "the best burger I've ever had" we went in with high expectations.
Just after ordering the burgers I noticed that something weird was happening there as they didn't even ask us how well cooked we'd want our patties. For a gourmet burger joint, that should be mandatory...
So we waited for our food, and whenever they gave us our burgers, the first thing you can feel in your hands is how hard the bread is. After that, you can notice the huge amount of chips that they serve... That's a good thing, isn't it? It would have been if the chips actually tasted a little bit, but no, they were totally bland in flavour. Now, going to the main event, the burger... The patty was so overcooked that it even tasted burnt on the edges, really tough and dry meat. The whole burger was dripping water from the lettuce as well, and the bacon was almost burnt and really chewy.
So overall, a clean and tidy place, the service is friendly, but the food is simply not good.
This has been probably one of the worst burgers...
Read moreBrill Burger replaced one of my favorite lunch places, which unfortunately closed due to the pandemic, so expectations were high. I'm very pleased to report that Brill Burger is a very worthy replacement. I decided to try the cheeseburger along with a side of their chips, both of which I heard good praise about from a friend. The burger itself was cooked perfectly, the toppings were well balanced, one wasn't overpowered by the other and the sauces were also excellently distributed. That brings me onto the chips, which I'm still eating while writing this review, you get plenty of their lightly seasoned chips which were also perfectly cooked and the dipping sauce provided compliments them very well. All in all, Brill Burger is a wonderful addition to the area, the meals are reasonably priced and you get your money's worth. I will certainly be recommending it to anyone...
