Although I have heard their cinnamon buns are good and the staff have been friendly in the past, the hot chocolate I recently had was well presented but full of lumps of cocoa powder. I could taste the lumps from the first sip. When the mugs were collected, there were still large lumps of powder at the bottom of the cup which would have been visible to staff. Also, although me and my friend only ordered drinks, they took a long time to arrive at our table.
After we were asked by a member of staff if we were going to buy anything else and we said no, she asked us to leave to make room for other customers although there were customers at other tables who had finished their drinks too and were not told to leave. The same member of staff did not make an effort to find us seats when we arrived and we had to walk around until some people kindly agreed to share their table with us.
Perhaps Elm should employ more staff to speed up service and that particular member of staff who asked us to leave could work on their manner with customers. I am reluctant to return if it means I will have a similar experience and I will most likely support other...
Read moreA swing by Elm for brunch a few weeks back, Located just by the hallamshire hospital.
🍂🍁We called by expecting to grab a bagel but they don't do these anymore and are in the middle of changing their seasonal menus - we can't wait to see what's coming for autumn!
Instead we picked up a couple of savoury bakes; 🥐A little bakoula pasty - fileld with baby potatoes, chard, goats cheese and apricot harissa. Topped with sesame and oregano - delicious 😋 🥐We also tried a 'honey bun' which really did have a delicious honey taste, and was filled with creamed leeks, kale, wendleydale cheese, and burnt onion butter.
We also fancied something sweet so tried 🍫a miso caramel brownie 🍰and a slice of lemon and cherry gateau Breton.
❤️All the bakes were next level, fresh and extremely tasty! We really enjoyed. They had lovely staff and even their cute little dog 🐶❤️.
🛍️🍾They also have a lovely little shop area with lots of interesting and organic wines, @sheffield.honey , coffee and other local offerings. We can't wait to call by and try their autumnal offering...
Read moreI’d heard great things about ELM but was left disappointed. The staff were lovely, but once you ordered there was no interaction. There were plenty of people who obviously were regulars, NHS staff and students. The food was a let down. On the way we walk past a bustling ‘falafel king’ and Napoli centro and wish we’d tried one of those instead. The sandwich sold by Elm was £7.50 and consisted of a large amount of bread filled with ~ a single layer of cured meat and sparsely spread out fig, chicory, honey. My friend likened it to a disappointing airport sandwich. I was really hoping the savoury baked goods would be better, but with one item the pastry was quite tough. The honey bun was tasty. The ideas seem great but the execution needs some work to warrant paying £5-8 per pastry. The coffee was fine, we had a filter coffee (6/10) and a flat white (7/10). Overall it’s a nice place to sit, the coffee is nice, but the food offerings were a let down versus my...
