I visited with 5 work colleagues this morning, when given the bill we asked to pay separately, Waiter told us we couldn’t? We insisted and were then told it was £5.20 each, the other lads in front of me duly paid their £5.20 and headed off to the van as we were late from our break time as it took a long time to get our bill. I was last in line and gave the waiter a £10 note for my share (expecting £4.80 change) he then told me the bill was short as divided it wrong and I would have to pay MORE than £10 (for a £5.20 breakfast!!) as they had now left. Obviously I refused and said I wanted my change! He refused! So I had no choice other than to pay due to the time and walked off stating I would complain about this and asked how was it my fault and out of order that I was being overcharged almost double for my £5 meal? The next minute the waiter (Scott I assume is name from receipt) followed me down the stairs threatening to call security unless I pay even more! I said go ahead and you can explain to them why you have charged me £10 for a £5 breakfast and refused to give me my change! When I got back to the van and told my colleagues, two of the lads went back to pay the extra pound or so he miscalculated, at which time they were were “apprehended by security” which is shameful and ridiculous. Even when they gave the waiter the extra cash he was disrespectful to them even thought they had done nothing wrong! The security guard then came back to me at the vans and threatened to detain me for non-payment! To which I explained him I had in fact paid nearly twice what I should have and the lads had paid what was asked for!!! I used to go to this chain a lot, especially when I needed to work for an hour between appointments. Unfortunately the restaurants appear to be unchanged in the last 20 years including the food. I can get 2 reasonable meals with drinks for 10 at a Greene King. My lasagne alone was over 10 here.
Shabby outdated decor, uncomfortable and overly small seats. Very, very loud residual noise so everyone talks really loudly to be heard.
I was presented with a soggy pizza base as garlic bread. Undercooked, no seasoning, no garlic, no flavour generally ( I asked my wife to check too) and criminally poor quality. Our superb waiter took it back for more garlic and returned it. It at least smelt of garlic this time but the rest of my comments were still current. By this time my two companions had finished their first course so I just ate it.
Have the chefs been trained to cook at all? Does an area manager call in to sample the food?
Lasagne. A lump of pasta with mediocre sauce. I played hunt the meat for a while only to find undercooked carrots. By adding a lot of salt and pepper it was made digestible then we paid and left.
If there were awards for mediocrity then this chain would win in every area except staffing as the service was superb. Our waiter (tall, slim, male, young, short brown hair, white) should be praised for his fabulous service.
In this competitive market this chain is too expensive, too bland in every sense, poor value, uncomfortable and competing against companies who are better in almost every way.

Read moreI had an extremely disappointing experience at Frankie and Benny's with my children on Father’s Day, and I feel compelled to share my frustration. Firstly, my daughter and I ordered the beef brisket hash and eggs, which was brought to us completely missing the beef. It was a basic mistake, but it completely ruined our meal. To make matters worse, my two young boys ordered from the kids Big Eaters menu, and their desserts were not brought out when their food arrived. When I finally asked about the desserts after paying the bill, I was told they could have desserts if they wanted—despite having already paid for the full kids’ package, including desserts. The staff did eventually sort everything out, but the service was appalling. Our waiter was disinterested, unhelpful, and showed no concern for our experience. It felt like we were a burden rather than valued customers. This was my first time dining here, and it will definitely be my last. The lack of attention to detail, combined with poor customer service, made for a truly disappointing Father’s Day.
