What an absolute horrible experience I have ever had in my life. We come from a land of such cuisine which is loved by people from all over the world. Not to exaggerate, other people had to jump in and stop the discrimination. Starting from the welcome, it was just forced. It felt like we made them do extra work by just visiting the restaurant. Then we couldn't get the seating of our choice even though the restaurant had one or two tables being served. Just got told that our group "won't fit" in that seating without even letting us try for ourselves. We made peace with it and went to order food but I think our presence made the servers uncomfortable and they just started to set the table awkwardly. We were still fine with it. Then comes the part one of our plates were getting cleared even after telling that we were still eating. Still understood the miscommunication. The second server who took our order just kept forcing food choices on us making us feel rushed to order food. The worst part is we had to ask for the bill in between our meals as the server was trying to explain to us, the cuisine that we have been eating and making in our homes for years and years and telling us their experience and how we were wrong about our food choices and knowledge. Unfortunately, the "nice" server was very knowledgeable and their experience of 43 years went down the drain when they lacked the basics of customer service. It was very unfortunate that the food got wasted and we just wasted our money, time and energy visiting this place. I belong to hospitality industry as well. Even though I don't have the experience of many many years still I posses the basic sense of customer service and politeness. Much appreciated the "hospitality" and I will make sure this experience reaches the...
Read moreThe one star is for the staff who were friendly, the food doesn’t deserve a single star. If you’ve eaten at the likes of Apna Style, Cafe Indus, Apna Lahore and Urban Choola amongst others, you’ll be aware of the fantastic South Asian restaurants Sheffield has to offer. This place is at the opposite end of the scale.
The service was friendly, the decor traditional, though dated, but not without charm. However the food is the worst I have experienced in a long time and completely overpriced. The garlic naan was without doubt the worst I have ever tasted in a restaurant. Dry, heavy and 100% out of a packet, similar to the ones you get in a supermarket. The saag paneer had not come into contact with even a hint of spice and had absolutely zero flavour. Likewise the biryani, which was served with slices of boiled egg on top and a floral shaped tomato like it had been transported from the 1970s. The chicken tikka was tough, bone dry and yet again, void of flavour.
The prices on the board outside the restaurant are higher than those I found online, and the prices on the menu once you’re inside the restaurant are higher than those on the board outside, which is probably illegal. When the bill finally came, I hadn’t felt that ripped off in a long time.
If the kitchen staff had ever had an interest in cooking, that was long gone. But the restaurant actually has charm and with a complete overhaul of the kitchen, it could be an enjoyable place to dine. Otherwise, with so many great alternatives available in the city, its days are...
Read moreI recently dined at this place which was the most unfortunate thing i have faced in Sheffield and I must say I was deeply disappointed by the experience. The issues I encountered included racist behavior and extremely poor customer service. My dining experience at this establishment was marred by instances of discriminatory behavior that were both unacceptable and offensive. The staff's attitude left me feeling unwelcome and disrespected, which is simply unacceptable in this day and age. Furthermore, the customer service I received was far below the standards one would expect from any restaurant. It seemed that the staff had little interest in ensuring a positive dining experience for their patrons. Trying to force their age onto an experience of how customer service should work is the worst thing they could have done. Had to literally ask for the bill midway out meal when they started to argue telling us what to eat and questioning our...
