A small-ish place with delicious food.
We came here as part of a large group which reserved the top half of upstairs. The food was a buffet style mix of Middle Eastern cuisine including, but not limited to, hummus, chips, assortment of roast vegetables, olives and finger sandwiches (all vegan dishes).
It was our fist taste of Middle Eastern food and it did not disappoint.
The drinks were strong but delicious, although service on the day was very slow. I think they only had a couple of staff members taking orders, mixing cocktails and delivering them to our group. At one point, despite already paying upon ordering, they mistakenly asked us to pay again when the drink was brought over to us.
Due to our party size, there was limited seating with actual chairs (seats with back support). The majority of our group ended up sitting on what really felt like footstools, alongside very low and small coffee tables - which were uncomfortable to eat at or sit alongside, for prolonged...

They have ready prepped salads, sandwiches, cakes and pastries, as well as a cook to order menu. It was difficult to know what was in each dish for allergen/intolerances. I had the mushrooms on toast with a side of tofu. The mushrooms were not pleasant, had a very strong and overpowering aniseed taste. The tofu scramble was very soft, maybe using silken tofu, and very salty. My friend was also disappointed with their food quality and did raise a complaint to management about their meal. Not sure if there’s been a change, or it was an off day, but on previous visits the food has been good.
I’d revisit but maybe on a weekday next time as it was pretty busy on a...

Serving without some of the most imaginative vegetarian and vegan meals you will currently find in Sheffield (note: this positive feedback coming from a meat-eater!) - along with truly great coffee and sweet treats, South Street Kitchen truly is a gem.
Worth noting that if you're visiting Sheffield on the train, SSK is a mere 5 minutes (tops) on foot from the main Midland rail station - just leave via the rear exit (follow signs for the "Supertram" stop) rather than leaving the usual front exit of the station. You'll be there in no time.
Highly recommended - and hopefully the first of many eatery and café businesses to take the plunge and upon up over...
