I wouldnât bother returning! The service was slow! Ordering at the bar took forever- it wasnât at a busy time! There certainly was no smile with your service. Our tables food came out so staggered I had finished eating my burger by the time the two pizzas appeared, about 15 minutes after which the worlds driest most expensive plate of nachos appeared. The burger was okay. Nothing special! It was the burnt end bbq one which turned out was 5 small balls of assumably beef on top of a burger. Had to add all the bbq sauce to get it to wet it up. No onion rings or anything, chips were okay- for ÂŁ13 pretty average. The pizzas were average, bases werenât popular, the phrase well Iâm hungry so Iâll eat it was mentioned. Again topped with the bare minimum quantity of ingredients possible. The nachos were by far the worst thing Iâve seen in a whileâŠ! ÂŁ12.50 my friend paid for nachos, which was a plate of plain nachos the world smallest amount of cheese sauce which you had to hunt for! A tiny splodge of guacamole at each side and a hint of sour cream! The chicken she added was okay, if there was no chicken on top maybe the kitchen wouldâve realised how insanely bare it was! Effectively ÂŁ10 for a bag of 50p nachos! Our plates werenât collected all night. We ended up heaping them on a window sill to play a game (we were there for 3 hours). The discounts they offer for nhs or students are invalid with most of the menu it would appear because of another offer of a drink with pizza or burger. Itâs a student dive and youâre much better off joining the other students at the local whetherspoons which is by far cheaper and nicer!
Something big would have to change to get me and my friends to return which is a shame as we work very locally. Decor is nice- shame nothing else...
Read moreCame late on a Sunday night. Unfortunately missed the kitchen closing time, but returned after eating for a couple of drinks. The menu did look good, maybe another time. Really nice vibe inside, girlfriend was concerned it might be a bit âsports bar-yâ but it didnât really feel like that once weâd settled in. Surprising variety in seating choices, from some snug-like areas, long benches, pub tables, and tall tables with bar stools. Bookcase of many borrowable games from dominoes to monopoly to cards against humanity. They have pool tables that take card! Scandalously quiet (to be expected I guess late night on a Sunday during exam period) but this place deserves to be busy. Shout-out to the barman who was super friendly and chatty with us despite being the only people in half an hour before last orders. Wide range of drinks behind the bar, and although I didnât look at the drinks menu, what we bought (glass of white and a double whisky) was very reasonably priced. Spacious and clean smoking area out front with many outside tables and some nice trees. We only happened to be staying in the area for a couple of nights but if we were students living in the area I donât doubt we would have ended up being...
Read moreArrived for breakfast and to watch British and Irish lions. Ordered breakfast at kick off. Told chef was new and would be a delay. Only one bar staff. Got orange juice and cups of tea. Waited 40 mins no sign of breakfast no up date or communication from bar person. After 1 hour and 10 minutes daughter went to ask what was going on. Could we speak with the manager? Apparently upstairs but she couldnât leave bar to contact him? Food eventually arrive 1hr 20 minutes after order. Why do establishments think excuses like manager uncontactable, new chef and short staffed are acceptable excuses for poor service. Surely a managers job is to manage these variables and ensure staffing levels are sufficient. The one bar staff did an admirable job dealing with everything. But she shouldnât have been put in that position. There were plenty of others in the same situation. It will interesting to see if the next lions match will be the same.
