Dreadful experience for women ... Called in for quick tea after work, very busy & stood at bar, when prodded in back & told to move by a man who said he’d been stood at bar. Apologised asking if he’d been waiting to get served when he arrogantly advised he’d been stood there for 3 hours drinking. Said just trying to get served & he said I should move up as he wanted more room at his “table”. When I advised him it was a bar for everyone to get served & there were plenty of tables inside & out to sit at, he pushed me on the back and told me to f** move & give him more space. Then said ‘I bet you’re single’ which I advised I wasn’t & said he could speak to my husband, who I’m sure he wouldn’t have spoken to in the same way. Advised bar staff of abuse & needed support but they did nothing & continued serving. When ordered drinks asked to speak to a manager. When she came, was very disinterested & said could check cctv if I wanted ... the man decried doing anything & unbelievably said I’d threatened him with bringing my husband down to sort him out. After asking the manager to check cctv & moving away from bar, the man continued to abuse me verbally but stopped when the manager came back. She advised she could not see he’d pushed me in back or had even spoke to me & he came in every day & there’d never been a problem, which was not only untrue but more worrying was that he was allowed to behave this way. Will never go again & will dissuade colleagues & friends from patronising an establishment which ignored & therefore supports misogyny....

My friend and I went to Sir Frances Newton pub last night, a belated treat for my friends birthday, unfortunately when the meal came, everything was cold. I had steak and chips, and my friend had mixgrill, and a jkt potato. The potato looked as it had been out all day and the rest of the meals was cold, I asked for the waitress to come over to our table and explained everything, she was really nice, and said she would ask the chef to cook fresh meals again. The meals arrived at our table, the steak was still not hot and neither was the chips, my friend did say hers was aittle warmer. The waitress came across to us and asked if everything was OK. I said I'm so sorry, but our .meals are still cold. To which she replied, I can't explain this because as soon as every thing is cooked it is sent out. Both myself and my friend are a professional cook. I was a chef in a pub for many years, and my friend was in her own catering business . So we do understand, that if the food is cooked and sent out immediately it is very hot so we know these meals was waiting on the counter for a good 10 minutes, before been sent out. Very disappointed no excuse for meals to be sent out cold. I would appreciate if the manager could email me and explain and tell me why cold food was sent out to us we know it wasn't the waitress fault, she was kind and helpful. I do know a lot of pressure and frustration was on the chef in the kitchen as the fridges was down. And the chef was trying his best to cook, sort the food and...

Not one of the best Wetherspoon's restaurants, which is much to say when Wetherspoon's are not by far the best option when you want a quality meal. Yet, the nice premises (located in a park with a gorgeous garden) meant that we will be happy to visit now and then for an evening drink, mostly during the summer.

However, after our last visit I got an insane 75 pounds ticket from Euro Car Parks, the company in charge now of their parking. It did not matter the fact that I was a customer, and I had evidence of my custom. My mistake, yes, I had been few times in the restaurant and never paid for the parking (they only changed recently to Euro Car Parks) and the new rules (pay in advance and get refund with your meal or drink) were not evident from the signposts. It still says that the parking is free for customers for stays under 90 minutes, and it was no evident at all that I was required to pay. The management of the restaurant washed their hands saying that the management of the parking was not under their control anymore. A complete and absolute theft.

Outcome: we will never go back to the Francis Newton. Actually, we are seriously considering not to custom any restaurant or retailer whose car park is managed by Euro Car Parks.

If you are planning to go, please make yourself sure you pay attention to the parking notices. Otherwise you will pay a fortune for a...

Had the ultimate burger and it was far from that. Reasonably priced drinks of course but food was very very awful with dry overly cooked poor quality burgers, chicken etc. Wetherspoon is usually cheap and chearful, good value but this was just rubbish not even cheap. Also be aware I was taking my elderly mother out and parked in the disabled bays with her permit. Because we were there more than 1.5 hours I got a £75 fine. I didn't read the signs that appeared to be for an adjacent parking area. After all I was just taking my old mum for a meal out in a pub. An expensive trip out for a very poor experience. Also no serviets, given blue role! No soda water so had to buy bottled because gas had gone! No strongbow available. Guy who asked if everything was alright did nothing when we said it wasn't! A place to be avoided in my opinion I'll pay my fine but never ever go back. I suggest you don't bother.

The Francis Newton is one of my favorite Wetherspoons. It is a nice country house set in fine grounds and gardens. There was a good selection of beers and lagers including some excellent cask conditioned real ales, the ones i tried were in excellent condition. The staff were very friendly and efficient, the food we had, the Empire burgers, the curry and the scampi, fish & chips were all very nice. It is nice to sit by the window and watch the squirrels running around on the beautiful grounds while enjoying your food and drink. Whenever i am in Sheffield this is the Wetherspoons i always come to.

I was to eating food and drink in 8 of March in the evening in the very busy time . I spent £14.99 for my meal. I didn’t see the monitor for car park which is in Pub area. After few days I get a penalty charge. I came to the pub and speak with manager and he was rude to me and after 30 minutes he told me you have to appeal to company. Even the customer in pub was shocked how manager was rude to me. I did appeal to the company and they rejected me. I called to pub again and they said we can’t do anything.
