I know I'm slightly biased as the pub has long been the tap for The Sheffield Brewery Co.
I've been a fan of the pub for over 18 years. To my mind it is one of the cornerstones of what Sheffield is all about and attracts folk from far and wide and is a bedrock with the other pubs in the area maintaining a strong belief in serving fine quality real ales.
The quality of beer on offer is always kept extremely well and the range is a very good spread of mainly cask but also keg craft ales, cider, wines and gins.
At the rear it also has a fantastic courtyard which overlooks a very tranquil position on the Don.
Since it's been taken over as a community pub there is always plenty of events on from poetry to quiz night's and it continues to offer some of the best live music.
As a brewery we are keen to support the Gardeners Rest's aims and promote the pub to those visiting and living in the fabulous Kelham and Neepsend surrounds.
My best advice is to free yourselves up on a Saturday afternoon and indulge in wandering around the area which is steeped in industrial heritage buildings but also has pubs and bars of all varieties and eateries to satisfy everyone's tastes. If it's a Peddler weekend more the better!
Whatever you do though make sure you make time to pop into the Gardeners and see what's on. If you've not been it's a gem of a pub!

Read moreThe Gardener's Rest in Sheffield is so buzzing with life, a truly friendly and welcoming place, I loved the decor, the place has a lovely feel, and the views over the river are great.
What makes this pub so special is that it's community funded. This means it was bought by a group of its regulars who raised money by selling shares to people in the community. It's owned and run by the people, for the people, which gives it a fantastic atmosphere and ensures it stays as a local hub. I was delighted when I was told about this!
It's also completely dog friendly, which is a big plus, and they have a lovely Lilly's cider on tap. During the day there was some fantastic live music, and the crowd was just brilliant. I highly recommend it for a...

Brilliant beer garden overlooks the Don and wonderful 1920s recycled steel makers. Beers echo the steel heritage (Bessemer, etc) and this evocative and airy and warm bar will leave you wanting to soon return. Bring your camera and walk there via the excellent Hillsborough Hotel pub and drink in and record the surrounding areas and heritage. Truly a great pleasure to visit and enjoy the Beer...
