Peddler Market — Local services in Sheffield

So disappointed on Friday night (2nd October). We booked for 8:30 and arrived exactly on time. There was a decent queue though as the poor girl that was checking people in was having to clear tables so that new arrivals could sit down. It took us over 20 minutes to get in. Once in we ordered straightaway and whilst my food arrived fairly quickly, the other order arrived at 9:40. Then at 9:50 we were being asked to leave as they apparently needed time to wipe down tables before the 10pm deadline. The food was as good as it always is but the organisation was chaotic to say the least. Some people wandered in without queuing and it was clear that people who had booked from 7:00 till 8:30 were not leaving nor were being asked to leave. Such a shame as we usually...

I really want to like Peddler but I'm struggling. I love night markets in Taiwan and had high hopes this would be something similar. It does have a good vibe and is popular but simply doesn't catch the feel of a true night market.

The range of food is a bit limited, especially if you don't eat meat, and unlike a night market is quite expensive. We could have eaten in a good restaurant for the same price and not been hungry enough we needed noodles when we got home. The Bao was ok but not a patch on a proper one. The Dahl was terrible. The ice tea was ok but no better than you'd get in a bottle for a third the price. Oh, and something gave us both a dodgy stomach the following day.

All in all I think we'll keep an eye on it but probably won't be back...

The food was alright, nothing out of the ordinary, it felt more like fast food than street food to me. I was a bit disappointed as I was expecting unusual twists on street food but it seemed quite ordinary. We got the smoked sausage hotdog, nachos and the Korean style burger. The sausage didn't seem smoked at all but the rosemary chips were good. The portions were huge. You have to scan the barcode on the table to order everything online, similar to online shopping and they take card only. They do different stalls each month so they might have some better options upcoming but for me I don't think I will be...
