We love Wendy's, but unfortunately Manchester is a veritable desert when it comes to this particular brand. Us poor relations have to visit our northern brethren in Leeds, Liverpool or Sheffield if we want our fix.
So on this occasion, we took an hour long trip across the pennines to visit this branch in Sheffield. First impressions were very good. A large modern unit with a good sized car park and drive through facility. We chose to dine in having spent a long time in the car getting there in the first place.
Unfortunately, first impressions were not great. Lots of people waiting for food congregating in the serving area. As the wait dragged on a lot of them were getting very impatient with the apparent single member of staff who was handing food over to customers. This sole member of staff was not only handing over orders, taking orders but also dealing with queries from customers. Having a single solitary point of contact for all customers doesn't seem like a particularly efficient way of operating. There didn't appear to be any other staff elsewhere in the restaurant other than 'invisibly' in the kitchen.
It showed from the rest of the restaurant. No napkins anywhere, the ketchup dispenser was empty, no lids for the dispensed beverages, drinks machines covered in spilled liquids, and tables uncleared from the previous customers' meals.
When the food was finally handed over, it was missing 4 nuggets and the 'kids packs' that were supposed to come with the meals. In fairness, when this was rectified, the kids really enjoyed their meals. I had the grilled bbq chicken wrap combo meal - the fries were great, but the chicken in the wraps were stone cold.
In short, I'm glad this wasn't my first experience of going to Wendy's because if it was, I'd...

Daughter could not eat her burger due to sauces that they put in despite asking for them to be removed.
We got a free burger which you would think is a good thing. Nope, it was my burger that they messed up to start with so they put in anyhow. And the burger they replaced it with, the supposedly right one? No, that was also wrong.
On a plus I finally got the chilli beef chips - but not worth the chances of the order being wrong.
They need retraining on how to read orders. We checked our receipt to make sure it wasn’t our fault and it wasn’t.
We’ve been here twice now and it’s gone down hill.
First visit and you could tell it was new and clean. There was an issue with the coke mix but the guy serving, Liam, had no issue changing the mix. Even the bag breaking when I was walking the car wasn’t an issue.
Todays visit though and it already looked tired and dirty. The worse area was the drinks area. Looks like they had a big spill but didn’t have time to clean it properly.
The touch screens were filthy and the first one didn’t work at all. Just stuck on the first screen. The 2nd one let us order then crash at the pay screen. We eventually put our order though for the second time on a third machine.
I ordered some beef, cheesy fries and just got given cheesy fries - with grated cheese despite the image looking like it was cheese sauce and other Wendy’s using cheese sauce. The burgers were swimming in sauces so much that one of our party left theirs. There was also a long stringy item in my wife’s burger which she said tasted like carrot. I’m really hoping you guys use carrots.
Overall the food was nice (except the ‘beef’ cheesy fries) but takeout isn’t cheap these days so a little better quality control...

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction following a recent visit to Wendy’s. Regrettably, my experience fell significantly short of both expectations and the standards one would anticipate from a global fast-food establishment.
To begin with, the quality of the food was notably subpar. I ordered a sausage and bacon barm, which arrived lukewarm and severely lacking in flavour. The meat components were uninspired, devoid of seasoning, and offered little in terms of texture or taste. The sandwich as a whole felt carelessly assembled and failed to meet even basic expectations for a breakfast item.
More disappointing, however, were the donuts, which were priced at a steep £2 each. I found them to be an absolute disappointment in both value and quality. They were served cold, with a texture that suggested they had been prepared well in advance and left to sit. The flavour was virtually non-existent, rendering the item entirely forgettable. A friend of mine, who also tried a donut, noted that the cinnamon coating was so unpalatable that it made him gag—a reaction that is frankly unacceptable for any food product being served to the public.
This experience has led me to seriously reconsider returning to Wendy’s in the future. I strongly urge the management to review both the quality control and pricing structure of their menu items, particularly for those aimed at the breakfast market. Value and taste are the cornerstones of customer satisfaction, and on this occasion, both were...
