Absolutely amazing meal out and a different dining experience to anywhere I've ever eaten.
Myself and partner visited here on a Monday evening around 7pm having booked the day before and for a Monday evening it really was rather busy, although it was the school holidays, I'd recommend booking whatever the day of the week.
We were greeted at the door by a very smartly dressed gentleman and shown to our table, asked if we'd like to see the wine menu and then told it would be Jason that would be taking care of us that evening. Jason was a delight to be served by, attentive, friendly, informative and very easy to talk to. As it was our first time at a M&C, he talked us both through the menu and how to order a steak if we were to do so. We ended up trying a house soda each, one blueberry and one passionfruit, both were delicious and the blueberry soda will most likely be a go to any time I'm at a M&C again.
To start it was the baked cheddar mushrooms and they were absolute perfection. Despite being made with a bit of cheese it was still not too heavy of a starter and left ample room for a main and potentially a pudding.
As for mains it was the buttermilk chicken and blue cheese burger on my side and the supergreen nourish bowl salad with chicken resided on my partners end of the table. Both were brilliant of course although the lemon and pomegranate dressing was rather hard to decipher from a usual oil/vinegar dressing although that may be because I'm never a salad dressing person. Withstanding that, both dishes were lovely and went down very easily.
In between meals we'd ordered a couple more drinks for ourselves, one virgin mojito - very nice, apple-y & minty. Alongside one Lyre's espresso martini which was ok, we thought the alcohol free spirit used to make it had a bit of a apple/fruity taste to it which didn't pair particularly well with the espresso taste however, that's just our tastes.
Pudding (solely for me) was my favourite dessert, a crème brûlée and it was perhaps one of, if not, the best I've ever had.
All in all, our experience at Miller & Carter was amazing, every restaurant says they give good service but M&C is the only place I believe actually holds this promise and goes above and beyond with it, especially with waiters like Jason at their disposal. Just the handwritten 'Thank You' is that little touch that you never see anywhere else and actually makes you feel appreciated by the business. We will most certainly be...
Read moreAppalling from beginning to end. Booked online, was left waiting in the bar area for our table, we were seated 10 minutes late and that's only because in approached a member of staff to prompt them! We were sat Infront of the kitchen, the kitchen staff were not appropriately dressed to be preparing food, one girl I particular had large earrings in and neck jewellery and nose piercing ,whilst the two women had bandanas on they had styled their hair so that hair was falling in their face. The food was appalling, we usually go to the one at Ecclesall road south and every time the food has been fantastic, really tasty and presented well. The king prawn starter and the cheesy mushrooms were not cooked to the same standard. The steaks were tough, we have them well done but they have always been tender and melt in the mouth, not here - they were not nice. The chips were rubbery, they had been left to stand under the heat lamp as were the onion loaf. The Mac and cheese side was sloppy ,the cheese was not crispy as it should be, it was runny and looked like vomit. When the waitress came to ask if the food was to our satisfaction, I expressed the poor quality of food, the waitress replaced the Mac and cheese and the chips which were overly salty. We were half way through the meal so was pointless when they arrived as I'd left half my steak and didn't bother with the rest. No discount off the bill, the waitress advised she would inform the manager but he never came to see us. He was however goofing around with the kitchen staff which was visible to all of the restaurant , he even threw his suit jacket on the floor , which is an odd thing to do especially for hygiene purposes!? Never will I return to this restaurant, it was more like a youth club the way the wait staff were all sat around the bar area at only 9.30pm. Not worth the money and very poor customer experience , the centertainment restaurant let's the brand...
Read moreWe ordered 4 mains and 2 side dishes, and 4 cocktails. We tried to order a pinacolada and the T-bone steak for one meal but were told that they had run out so we picked alternatives.
The server seemed very distracted whilst we were ordering (she left the table whilst one of our party was mid sentence ordering to go and talk to another server) and when she read back our order to check it was correct she had ordered 2 sirloins instead of 2 fillets.
45 minutes later the server brought our side of cheddar mushrooms which we tried assuming she had gone back for our mains. After 10 mins nothing else arrived so we had to flag down a server and find out what was going on, turns out they had brought the mushrooms as a starter by mistake so the server took them back.
After 15 more mins the mains arrived at the exact time as the lettuce wedge but we were missing our original side of mushrooms, after waiting 5 minutes we figured they had forgotten it again, so again had to ask the server. By this time our cocktails had been empty for a long time and no one came to ask us if we would like to order more drinks.
10 mins later the server brought our side of mushrooms and we ordered a bottle of wine and a lager for the table. No apology was given for their error. The server brought over the drinks and just left the bottle of wine by the table, they didn’t even open the bottle let alone offer to pour it.
We were there for a birthday and only the lady on the front of house wished the person happy birthday which we found very odd. Normally we would stay for dessert like we have in the past but the service was so poor no one wanted to stay, whilst the food was nice the whole birthday evening was ruined by the bad service and it has put us off returning soon. Paying over £250 for a meal I think it’s fair to expect...
