Calico Jack Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Skipton

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. Here is the whole story!

We were asked to move just after placing an order. And to add insult to injury, we were then asked to move yet again to another table within just two minutes. the table we were moved to lacked proper heating facilities, leaving us uncomfortable and dissatisfied. This constant disruption and lack of consideration for our dining experience were unacceptable.

Furthermore, it is unacceptable to be treated with such disrespect and then asked to pay for a service we did not receive. We have the right to leave if we are not satisfied with your service and attitude. It's concerning that you dare to ask us to pay when you're not being transparent about the situation.

Needless to say, we left without even having a change to enjoy anything from your menu! No water no drinks no food!

This type of behavior is not only unprofessional but also disrespectful to your customers. We will not be returning to your establishment and will be sure to share our negative experience with others.

Despite claiming to be dog-friendly, they have strict rules about dog behavior that are not accommodating to the nature of dogs. Our dogs can be chatty in new environments, but they settle down eventually. However, we were asked to move out as soon as they were just getting comfortable.

The table we were seated at was sticky.

Additionally, the outdoor seating area had only one heater working, which made it uncomfortable for us to stay outside for long periods, especially on colder days.

It's clear that this restaurant prioritizes large groups of customers over smaller parties like ours.

In October of 2020, I spontaneously planned a camping trip with my friends. We arrived in tosside and were rained out so bad that our tent was destroyed. Searching for a place to stay we found an Inn outside Skipton with a single room that the three of us had to share a bed/sofa in but it beat the rain, however we were frozen, starving and in desperate need of alcohol.

Like Shackleton setting out from his antarctic camp, we ventured into Skipton to find somewhere, anywhere that would save our weary souls. Our call was answered by Calico Jack's.

Nowhere else in all my years have I found a restaurant/bar that comes within a nautical mile of this pirate-themed tex-mex restaurant and cocktail bar. The food is huge and incredibly prepared, even going to such lengths as to char their suitably pirate-related logo into their tortillas. The cocktails are unwatered and worth every penny. The staff are friendly, clearly enjoy themselves, and even the other patrons catch on to Calico Jack's infectious atmosphere.

I venture north each year like a pilgrim to Mecca, travelling the harsh wilderness of the M56, to reach my holy land. And not once has this restaurant ever disappointed.

First time visiting on a Saturday lunch time. Visited with my 6 year old. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself was quite at 12:00 (opening time). The kids pizza was a good size (and too much for the 6 year old!) It eas slightly greener on top thanks to the pepperoni, but that's a common thing with pepperoni (which my kid loves!). I ordered the Stromboli and whilst it was delicious it was also massive, especially for a lunch time! A smaller lunch menu would have been useful I think!

All in all very positive experience. Only thing I would say is that the pirate theme isn't overly heavy, it's only a decor and style thing. The waitresses weren't dressed as pirates or anything, so if you're expecting g a fully immersion pirate experience just be aware of this also.

Edit: 2nd visit, this time on a Thursday early evening with wife and 6 year old. Very quite again but the staff are lovely and the food is fantastic.
