The Cock & Bottle — Restaurant in Skipton

3 of us were walking around Skipton. Fancied a burger and Google'd best burger near me. Wasn't disappointed with this result. Staff were on the ball, polite and friendly. The new, heated area outside was offered to us as inside the pub was full. As it stood, we wanted to be outside anyway so this with the addition of heating was right up our street. The waitress brought over some blankets to sit on / keep our legs warm and took our orders. 2 burgers and a small pie (ordered as a small portion but still big enough for an adult with a smaller appetite) arrived shortly and was just perfect. Batter on the onion rings was crisps, the meat on the burgers beautifully grilled amd the fries and wedges were spot on. Nice atmosphere and a clean setting. If I lived in Skipton I would live in this pub. Good selection of beers and a tidy selection of distillates served up at fair prices, great welcoming vibe, and meals that never, ever disappoint. The steak salads and steak pies we had were delightful, the fish and chips pretty good, one time we ducked in for a cup of tea and a pudding just to get out of the rain, and they are always just lovely to us. But next time I'm putting myself on the outside of one of their ploughman's platters. Looks too good to be true. Until then I will miss Yorkshire.

PS- They serve fresh veg. We live in California and we long for good fresh local vegetables when we visit the UK. Very hard to find, especially in pubs. C&Bs taste just picked, and cooked just right. The little carrots they served with the pies are actual little carrots, unpeeled, and tasty...

We really enjoyed our meal here. Definitely advise booking in advance as we were lucky to get a table.

On weekdays they do an offer for 2 burgers or mains for £28 which was a very good deal.

We both had different burgers, and they were both lovely. The burger was definitely made themselves and was a good size. Still a bit pink in the middle and had a really nice taste. The menu said 'crispy bacon' and although lots of places say this, the bacon was actually crispy and perfect! The bun was lovely and soft and fresh, and it came with a few massive really good onion rings.

The tiny boards that the food is served on are a bit small for the amount of food we were given. But we asked for an extra plate which they were very happy to do.
