Today, 17 February 2024, I went to this cafe with a friend. I had a cheese omelette, chips, beans and salad. My friend had breaded cod, chips, peas and salad. We ordered two teas which arrived promptly, and contained the tea bags and milk. The tea, by the time it arrived, had stewed.
My friend’s meal was unsightly! An over-fried piece of something from Iceland supermarket, whilst my food was tasteless to the extreme. Conversing with the ignorant manager, proved pointless. I’m not fluent in grunts and my use of bad manners is limited. It isn’t surprising therefore that the waitress was as ignorant. It’s all down to the training!
£21.00 for a bad experience! No wonder people go to MacDonalds!
I wouldn’t ever say don’t eat there but hopefully you will read this first!
Looking forward to reading the reply from the...
Read moreFirst thing to note....... I am spoilt! I live in Newark, and we have around 10 cafés in a 3 mile radius that do really good coffee and really good food. We went on a jaunt on the bike and ended up in Spalding, where I haven't been since working there over 30 years ago. Spalding centre looks pretty good vs a lot of other market towns I've seen over the last few depressed years! The americano coffee was excellent. Much better than expected, and very good regardless of price. The bacon, sausage & egg bap was tasty and very good value for money. Service was quick and polite. We were able to sit outside, so we had a nice view of the centre and towards the river. Thoroughly recommended for a place to get some good honest food at a...
Read moreOct '21 A busy Saturday, it's true, but we waited 40 minutes for a tea & a coffee & 2 omelettes. I guess the frustration was that we didn't even get an update, let alone our drinks while we waited. When, after 40 minutes the waitress, who was extremely busy, came to ask us what we ordered & confirmed nothing was ready for us, we decided to leave. Very poorly organised. Not clean. (We cleared our own table as most people had to) & clearly understaffed. Not very cleaver on the day of the annual pumkin festival when the town is obviously...
