The Punchbowl — Restaurant in South Holland

I had been a patron of the punchbowl on/ off for about two years. However last night me and a friend (female) attempted to finish our night there. When we arrived the (male) bouncers proceeded to scream in the face of my her from the premises. The reason? She had been banned because approximately two months ago because she happened to be friends with someone who filed a police complaint against the bouncers for previously being violent and aggressive when removing people. I attempted to intervene by talking to the bouncers and explaining like a rational human being, even going to extent of apologising on my friends behalf (which I regret). In no way was I either aggressive or irate. The response I got? I am now also banned. I completely understand the hard line stance needed when being a bouncer. However the disgusting customer service of this establishment means it is not only a bore but actually distressing to go to. Reading the other reviews on this site it appears the place is run by a bunch of thuggish oafs on a power trip with contempt for both its customers and the law. I urge you instead to go to Bentleys just down the road where the staff (and bouncers) are lovely, drinks are good value and the music and dance floor are great. Bonus: you get fed free of charge at the end...

I ordered a double Kraken, got served a double JD, so not wanting to make a fuss, I left it and ordered another one, had a couple more with no issues, then I ordered the same again but got given something else which wasn't Kraken, this time I made a mistake of letting them know that it wasn't Kraken, to which the bar staff became aggressive, snatched the drink off me and called the doorman. (I have a sneaky feeling that they are tampering with the bottles of spirits) I was shocked, but left without any fuss at all. Needless to say I will never go...

Randomly visited for a pint and a catch up. Not much by way of parking as it's on a street with only a few bays nearby. Wasn't too busy, garden had plenty of seating. There seemed to be a few pool tables at the back. Urinals were mostly taped off but whether that was due to Covid (September 2021?) is unknown so only 1 cubicle available in the Gents and it wasn't exactly pristine. They had the cleaning in progress/wet floor sign out but no cleaner is sight and it looked like the sign just lived there...
