STAMFORD MINI GUIDE Once proclaimed by Sir Walter Scott to be ‘the finest stone town in England’, Stamford has over 600 stunning listed buildings of mellow limestone, including 5 medieval churches. It’s an absolutely picturesque destination, filled with charm and character. It was named as having one of the best high streets in the country in 2023, so you’ll be sure to find a thriving town filled with coffee shops, restaurants, shops and galleries. See below for suggestions of things to do, save this post and follow for more UK activities and experiences 🇬🇧 STAY The crown The William Cecil The George Finch Arms Hambleton Hall (just outside Stamford) Barnsdale (just outside Stamford) EAT The George The Bull & Swan Paten & Co Orbis Newtons Wine Bar Lamberts Kitchen Stamford Cheese Cellar DO Take the popular Stamford Town Trail Visit Burghley House Water sports at Tallington Lakes Visit Belvoir Castle Visit the many independent shops and galleries Cosy up in one of the historic pubs Catch a performance at the Corn Exchange Theatre or Rutland Open Air Theatre #stamford #stamforduk #countrysidelife #countrysideliving #townandcountry #ukfamilytravel #placestovisit #placestovisituk #historictown #suitcasetravels #sheisnotlost #ukgetaway #uktravels #visitengland #lovegreatbritain #lincolnshire #englandsbigpicture #allwhatsbeautiful #stayandwander

Just got back from a short break in the area and a google search for local dog friendly breakfast places brought this gem up! We hadn’t made a reservation as we had no idea how popular the place was but luckily we managed to get in as a couple were just leaving. We both had the full English breakfast with toast and some coffee. It was honestly the best English breakfast we have ever tried and we enjoyed it that much we came back the following day to try more as all the food looked so good. I had the blueberry pancakes and my husband had the eggs Benedict which were again outstanding. The pot of tea for two was also well enjoyed. It is definitely the busiest place we have ever been for breakfast and was fully booked both times. We actually tried to book in again the following day but they were already fully booked with the lady saying Friday is their busiest day. It clearly has a great reputation and for good reason as it really is a lovely little eatery with excellent food, great service and a lovely atmosphere. We felt very comfortable with our large dog despite it being very busy and all the staff made a fuss of him. I would recommend booking in well in advance to make sure you can get in and get the time a lot you want as the amount of people they had to turn away both times we came was crazy. We highly recommend and will definitely be back if we are ever in Stanford again!

What a massively enjoyable sandwich
I visited here on a Saturday and it was immensely busy. Although I hadn’t booked I was able to wait a short amount of time and then get seated at a window table. Within 15 mins of being seated my server (a young man light brown hair) took my order and shortly afterwards my drinks arrived. Within 10 minutes my food also arrived and yep big thumbs up for the food. Drink wise I went with a latte and a Frobisher’s mango juice, food wise I went with the Pulled Pork in a pretzel bun, from the specials menu. I would highly recommend any of the Frobisher’s juices as all of the ones I’ve tried have been delicious. The food was a real show stopper, well presented and tasty, with adequate portion size. If you in Stamford and fancy a bite to eat, I’d definitely suggest a visit to Lamberts

Lovely interior, super friendly and efficient staff. Nice menu choices. We had salmon and scrambled eggs and I had full English. We both thought the salmon portion was quite small and her scrambled were very loose rather than fluffy. My bacon had white residue (see pic) which is a sign of injected water, which I was really surprised by as the sausage was terrific, a proper butchers sausage! Delicious.

As a non dog owner, I don't really like dogs inside eating establishments, especially when you have to step over them, but appreciate I'm in a minority. I do think the water station for people should be separate from the dog water. I watched a dog owner handle the communal dog bowl, wipe her dogs mouth with the towel, then use the communal water station to pour herself a drink without...
