First time trying Sushi and Salad. We spent around 2 hours there grazing and enjoying the atmosphere. We had a mix up with our first order but they were very accommodating and corrected it for us really quickly. The staff were attentive and put up with our multiple orders. The food was all very fresh and full of flavour. We also felt like it was reasonably priced for what we ate and drank. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and I'm sure we will be returning soon. We returned for our 1st wedding anniversary and had a lovely evening. We tried a range of dishes and thoroughly enjoyed them all. George was great and remembered us from before as we joked about the numbers we ordered and what we would get. We were also treated to a lovely dessert in celebration. All of the staff worked incredibly hard as when we entered it was empty but it soon filled up! We really enjoy the fact that it all arrives fresh and you can graze for a few hours.

This was my first visit to Sushi and Salad, but I'm hoping it won't be my last. I had the spicy chicken wings starter and then shared the Salmon and Sashimi platter. The chicken wings were terrific. The spice level was pretty mild, but they had a nice little kick and were a good first course before the sushi arrived. The sushi itself was very good. The special sushi included as part of the platter was a favourite, but the salmon nigri was a close second. The food was tasty, fresh and the right amount for two people to feel full but not over full. Service was quick and friendly. Only bad point was that the beer tap was out of service, so I had to have the smaller, more expensive bottles. With that said, these things happen and it was an otherwise a terrific meal and I'd happily recommend visiting.

What a gorgeous place to eat out in Stamford. The decor is stunning and all the crockery is cute and authentic. I was welcomed with a smile when I walked in and given a discreet table in the corner as I was eating on my own. Jorge was a fantastic waiter and explained all of the menus and what was on them. I only had two small plates, which were both delicious! Veg gyoza and salt & pepper squid. Jorge was super kind and let me have a bit of the sauce which comes with the tempura cod (avocado), which was great to dip the squid into! Jorge was super friendly and chatted to me a little, which was really kind as I was on my own. It really was a great experience and I will most definitely be going back to try more of their amazing dishes!

Sushi and Salad Stamford, located at 72 High Street in Stamford, Lincolnshire, is a charming Japanese restaurant that has garnered significant acclaim for its authentic cuisine and inviting atmosphere. The establishment offers a diverse menu that caters to both traditional sushi enthusiasts and those seeking a broader range of Japanese dishes.

Ambiance and Decor

Upon entering, patrons are greeted by a beautifully decorated interior that reflects traditional Japanese aesthetics. The decor features subtle Japanese ornaments, creating a serene and authentic dining environment. The restaurant's layout includes both ground floor and upstairs seating areas, accommodating various group sizes. However, some reviews have noted that the space can feel a bit cramped during peak hours, suggesting that reservations might be advisable to ensure a comfortable dining experience.

Additionally, the tempura dishes, particularly the salt and pepper squid, have been described as delightful, with a perfectly executed batter.

Service and Staff

The service at Sushi and Salad Stamford has been a point of discussion among patrons. Many diners have commended the staff for their friendliness and attentiveness. For instance, a reviewer mentioned that the servers were very friendly and helpful, especially when assisting those less familiar with sushi selections.

However, there have been instances where service did not meet expectations. Some patrons reported delays in receiving their orders and challenges in getting the attention of the staff during busy periods. In one case, a diner noted that they waited over 45 minutes for their first items and had difficulty ordering additional drinks due to the staff's unavailability.

Overall Experience

The combination of authentic Japanese cuisine, a thoughtfully designed interior, and a diverse menu makes it a noteworthy destination for both locals and visitors. The restaurant's commitment to accommodating various dietary needs further enhances its appeal.

In conclusion, Sushi and Salad Stamford offers a delightful Japanese dining experience in the heart of Stamford. While there are areas for improvement, particularly in service consistency during peak times, the quality of the food and the ambiance make it a commendable choice for those seeking authentic Japanese cuisine. Nestled in the heart of Stamford, I recently had the pleasure of discovering a hidden gem that combines the best of both worlds: a sushi and salad restaurant that has left an indelible impression on my taste buds. With its inviting ambiance and a menu that showcases a harmonious blend of flavors, this establishment is a haven for food enthusiasts seeking a fresh and wholesome dining experience.

Let's start with the sushi offerings. The restaurant's sushi menu is an impressive display of creativity and culinary expertise. The sushi chefs here are true artisans, masterfully crafting each roll with precision and care. From classic favorites to inventive specialty rolls, every bite is a delightful explosion of flavors. The fish is impeccably fresh, melting in your mouth with its buttery texture, while the accompanying ingredients and seasonings elevate the taste to new heights. The presentation is a work of art, with vibrant colors and meticulous attention to detail. Whether you're a traditionalist or an adventurous eater, the sushi selection here will leave you craving for more.

Equally impressive are the salad options available at this restaurant. The salad menu showcases a diverse range of greens, vegetables, and toppings that will appease even the most discerning salad connoisseurs. The ingredients are sourced locally, ensuring optimal freshness and flavor. The salads are meticulously composed, striking a perfect balance between healthy and indulgent. This was, without a doubt, one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had, marked by a surprising lack of hospitality and attention to detail.

From the moment we arrived, it was evident that the focus was not on providing a pleasant dining experience but rather on turning tables as quickly as possible, likely due to overbooking beyond our control. While the food itself was excellent, the service fell short in several key areas. For instance, we were not asked if we wanted any additional drinks during the meal, leaving us feeling overlooked and undervalued. That said, the waitstaff were friendly and helpful. When we noticed there was no soy sauce on the table on arrival the waitress promptly addressed this and brought it over. Similarly, our order was taken efficiently, which was appreciated. However, these small positives could not outweigh the overall sense of being rushed and disregarded as customers. To make matters worse, while the miso soup, tempura vegetables, and pork belly arrived promptly, the sushi platter (part of the Mega Combo) took an additional 30 minutes. While I understand that preparing such a large selection of sushi requires time, this left us with only 30 minutes to eat before we were pushed out the door as quickly as possible. Spending £130 and being treated this way is simply unacceptable.

We were not the only table to experience this poor treatment. The table behind us, which included children with desserts still waiting to arrive, was told they had just five minutes before the table would need to be vacated. This behavior is appalling and shows a complete disregard for customers who chose to dine at your restaurant.

This visit was intended to celebrate a birthday, but instead, it left us feeling unwelcome and undervalued. When we raised our concerns with a what appeared to be the manager, we were met with empty reassurances and no meaningful action just a dismissive goodbye and a hollow promise of “next time, we’ll give you two hours.” This is far from the standard of service expected from any restaurant that claims to offer quality hospitality.

I am both devastated and embarrassed by the entire experience and find it difficult to imagine any...
