Consistently our favourite place in all of Stamford. Been here a few times now and we just can’t stay away. From the cosy rustic atmosphere to the delicious food, everything here is perfect and not to be missed. The service here is fantastic, you’re greeted like an old friend and it’s table service, so there’s no need to get up from your seat, though I encourage you to in order to look at the selection of beers and ales on offer. The drinks are just as good as the service and pair perfectly with the excellent food. On this particular visit, I had the Crumpet Burger, which was absolutely fantastic. The beef burger was juicy and meaty, topped with Brie and salty bacon. The portion of chips on the side, in my opinion, is perfect and they’re crispy and hot! Plus, everything is locally sourced so it’s all incredibly fresh and you can really taste the difference! All in all, a great place to grab lunch in Stamford, to catch up with mates or enjoy a relaxing pint after a day out shopping. As always, I can’t wait for my next visit.

Popped in to try the new menu, and they did not disappoint. Table service was excellent. They kept checking if we wanted any more drinks. Now to the star of the show.. the food. It was outstanding. I had the Nach-Yo burger, which on its own would have been epic, but you had the option to Fondou it, which of course I did, and it was next level excellent the right level of spice! We also tried a couple of the mac n cheese dishes, the classic mac and mariachi mac, and again, it was delicious. Other had the pulled beef Gravy fries which where crisp and very tasty. The ale selection as always was on point and something for everyone. If you're in the area, definitely check this place out. They also have a stash of card and board games, should you fancy it. To avoid disappointment, make sure you book a table as they fill up fast!

I have been going to the Kings Head for many years, mine and my wife's fave pre children! Alas I have not been in so much over the past few years. Best beer and food in town, always good service and a special thanks for the consideration when me and a KH newb had a slight error on our bill a few weeks ago, refunded a few days later, no fuss, we felt much loved. I Would give several more stars if they were available!

Disappointing and Unwelcoming – Not Worth the Hype

We came to this pub after a local recommended it, but unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. It was 30°C outside and we were extremely hot when we arrived desperate for a cold drink. I ordered a draught beer, expecting something refreshing, but it was served at room temperature.

When I politely asked if I could swap it for something cold, the woman behind the bar said no she could give me a different drink, but I’d still have to pay for this one. Then she added that I should have known better because it was a cask ale, and I was apparently just supposed to know it would be served warm.

To make things worse, we went to another pub afterward, and they also had cask ales on tap. When I said, “No cask please, they’re always warm,” the bartender replied, “Ours isn’t warm.” And guess what? It wasn’t, it was perfectly cool and refreshing.

So no, it’s not just “how cask ale is served.” It’s how this place chooses to serve it—and how they choose to treat their customers. Poor service, no flexibility, and a condescending attitude. Definitely won’t...

After finally getting a place at this pub after 3 years of trying I can say that it was a decent experience. The staff offer great customer service and are very welcoming and there is a great atmosphere because it is very busy.

However, I was disappointed with the obviously frozen fries that accompanied my burger, my brother who had fish and chips had homemade chips. The burger itself was not anything special and lacked seasoning or flavour, I also detected a small piece of gristle in the burger that wasn't very pleasant. If I buy a burger from a pub or restaurant and for a premium I expect to be presented with locally sourced high quality burger and fries but this didn't reach that standard, I might of well gone to a popular burger chain for less than half the cost.

Update on response: Thank you for your reply. I think you have a great historic pub and all I want is for the food to live up to the location and service you provide. I forgot to add I wasn't too keen on the metal trays as it reminded me of more a fast food location. Anyway I look forward to revisiting if...
