Charleston's Coffee House — Restaurant in South Tyneside

We turned up today , a family of 10, thinking they wouldn't be able to fit us in. To our surprise the lovely lady moved all the tables around for us, welcomed us in, took our orders very quickly, drinks came out super fast. Food came out all on time together. Food was fantastic. Some ordered full English breakfast, some ordered Sunday dinner and some had mince and dumplings, as well as homemade chips. staff were absolutely brilliant. We all felt welcome as we celebrated our Christmas get together as we are from different towns. The staff member also brought over colouring in sheets and pencils for my 3 year old and a high chair. Lovely food, well worth the money, but one of the members of staff was downright rude to me, so I haven't been back.

I am so disappointed by this because we used to be regulars in this little cafe. The cook worked at Franchis in the market place, and we came to the cafe knowing we would get a lovely plate of food cooked by her.

What a shame..... that the staff member treats regulars to such nasty behaviour. I am disabled so trudging around looking for a cafe isn't ideal, but I won't visit Charleston's while the rude woman...

No-one seemed to take any notice whilst we "waited to be seated" - no warm greeting, just asked what we wanted and how paying. There was more interest taken in questioning us as to whether we had altered our seating arrangements (which we had not!). Venue/food/drink/cost make it worth a visit, tho' a more friendly and welcoming visit would improve...
