Well once again we booked our usual table and it wasn't reserved for us when we arrived, the staff hadn't been told by David, the manager, about bookings, not good, and not fair on the staff who by the way was working lunchtime on her own, Cait was brilliant, she sorted out our table that should have been reserved, she was behind the bar serving drinks, taking food orders, bringing food out when it was ready, and trying to clear tables by herself. How can 1 person (the new manager) change an atmosphere and pub so much and so soon, 3 eccellent members of staff have left in a matter of weeks, daytime regular customers are going elsewhere, hardly new anyone and used to be that everyone new each other, and it was a relaxed, friendly, happy place to spend an afternoon, not any more. We keep going to support the staff who are left, but for how long.

How things have changed, dont bother booking a table because it wont get reseved for you, for 4 weeks we have booked a table only for it not to be reserved, the staff have apologised but it really isnt there responsibility, down to management, ha, the staff are lovely are run off their feet only 1 person on at lunchtime and trying to serve at the bar, take food out , clear tables etc, crazy. They deserve double the wages, never seen the Sefton like this in all the years we have been going , feel so sorry for the staff, no wonder the regulars are going elsewhere.

This is a really nice place to have a drink, can get busy at times. The new decor is great and really brightens the place up, although there does seem to be an awful lit of stools to sit on. We only had drinks on this visit but have eaten in the past with good food, the service is good with friendly staff.

Went in today , and we had precooked the Christmas lunch. It was really good, plenty of turkey and the vegetables and roast potatoes were really well cooked , could barely move afterwards, great very friendly and...

Hi, I would just like to say a huge thank you to all the staff that were working on Tuesday. We came in as a family of 4, myself, wife 2 children (one of which is disabled). We arrived slightly late and were met by a lovely girl who made our whole family feel at ease and relaxed. We were all unsure what to have and consulted the girl for her assistance. And boy did she do well. Everyone including my son who is such a picky /fussy eater, all enjoyed her recommendations. The food was unbelievable. We even had desert that was also exemplary. We as a family could not recommend the Sefton more highly. we give it 10/10. Such a lovely feeling to give a good review. I do not normally go on and review food but i felt i had to as the whole experience was amazing and the kids want to go back ASAP. thanks once...

This is my favourite town centre boozer. There have been some changes here since local stalwart and all-round top bloke Matty died, but the place is as good as ever from a food and ale point of view. Staff are always fab and there's a good craic with everyone behind the bar.

The food is consistently good and I've never had any complaints whenever I have ate here. There is a lot of demand so things run out relatively quickly - a aign of a good place!

It is also reliably one of the best pints of Guinness in the town. They even have the new fangled booze like Cruzcampo, and have a huge selection of spirits, especially whiskeys and gins.

Live music every Thursday and Friday. You honestly can't...

Excellent atmosphere. Drinks where really reasonable. 2.30 for a pint of John Smith's ( it's a cheap pint anyway but still reasonable) standard meal deals available. It was pie wednesday got a hunters chicken pie and a pint for £7.99. was served quickly and was really nice. Staff are very friendly and when I have been before they where friendly then. They have also got "booths" where you have a personal screen so it is an ideal pub for work drinks whilst watching the match. Best pub in st Helens as others can be a bit run down.

Decent to good food (depends on who's in the kitchen, never been bad though), fair prices, 2 4 1 cocktails (has to be the same cocktail), friendly staff, sometimes has a "rougher" clientèle that has made their way up from down the road where they usually reside. Watch out for the sellers of stolen gear (items from surrounding shops/food from Iceland etc) in a duffle bag that pops up outside from time to time - if they do come into the pub the staff shift them out pretty quick. Overall, recommended.
