We had never been to this cafe before, but it was a freezing, rainy day, and myself, my sister and my 5 year old son popped in to get out of the cold for a hot drink. The drinks were reasonably priced, and my son devoured a blondie from their extensive cake selection. He said it was delicious!! We were only coming in for drinks, but the atmosphere was brilliant, and a table near us had food and it looked and smelt so good that we ordered. My sister had the vegan burger, my son had the kids chicken nuggets and I had chips. Helen was our server, and not only was she really friendly and kind, but she struck up conversation with my son and helped encourage him to eat lots of his dinner. She even gave him a sticker and a high five at the end of our meal! We didn't feel rushed or a nuisance, and we all enjoyed our food so much that we ate everything. The kids chicken nuggets, chips and beans was a large portion, and everything was high quality (even the chicken nuggets, which anywhere else would have been cheap frozen ones!). This was only £6 and was a lovely large portion for my son. My sister is vegan, and she had plenty of choice, and she said it was really tasty! Again, it was all freshly made and cooked from high quality ingredients. It was £12.50 for this meal. I just had a portion of chips because I wasn't hungry, but they were really delicious. They are seasoned with fresh herbs which was a lovely touch. These were £3.75 but it was a really large bowl full for that price which I thought was cheap! Overall, we had a really great time at this cafe, and felt really valued as customers, although we had never been before. We could see regular customers conversing with the staff, which made the atmosphere do nice. Thanks to Helen and all the staff. We will be...
Read moreSorry to say, absolutely terribe, our first visit last Saturday 14th September we sat down inside, had to ask twice for a menu, then unannounced a man and his guitar suddenly started singing so loud.. plugged into his speaker set up sounded absolutely terrible.. After an elderly couple got up and left, we did the same.. Outside a waitress, was saying.. I know, i told them it's too loud.. People are leaving.. Onto the food and service, we returned yesterday as we're local.. We sat outside, just incase.. I Ordered the chicken on basmati rice.. My partner ordered a steak and onion sandwich.. 35 minutes later it came out after we queried. Oh dear both plates looked terrible, i had a few tiny pieces of rubbery chicken on over cooked clumpy rice, and about 9 or 10 chips.. My partners was a little piece of fatty steak on 2 rounds of brown bread, and a few onions and plain salad on the side, i called the waiter over to show him, he looked shocked too.. and took them away, saying I'll get you a full refund, so sorry.. a new chef. Nice cafe but the food and service is...
Read moreFirst time visitors to Pau, liked the look of the place and I admit to being bored with the eateries and their increasing prices at Trentham. Coffee was the best I've had in quite a while and hot which also makes a change. The breakfast was nicely presented with THE largest sausages which were, I'm told, juicy and tasty. The eggs benny was enjoyable but after seeing others photos I feel a little short-changed on the presentation, it's difficult to jazz up an EB but abit of colour goes a long way - not a criticism just a polite nudge , it was cooked to perfection. Really nice atmosphere and the lady keeping everywhere spotless was welcoming and friendly , something else often missing at Trentham - talk to us, engage, we're customers we don't bite! Pau has a good vibe to it, although attached to the runner and cyclist store we didn't feel that we needed to be in lycra, best we don't and we'll...
