I went here a few weeks ago and took the time to write this review as I was absolutely shocked at what I had experienced here. Having worked in a university coffee shop that can get mental with the drop of a hat I am used to busy cafe life and try to be simple with orders and quick so it's less stressful behind the counter. The staff working on this day are clearly NOT trained in customer service or common decency. It was rather busy and I was with a friend and her kid. The staff couldn't stop being bothered about this kid as they stood chatting about how the kid went to save a table for us in the far back corner, they kept muttering under their breath rude comments about the 'child'. Once it was my turn to be served the ordering and payment (card) was easy enough, I was asked where I was stilling and said "I'm with that child over there" Absolutely no recognition about the fact I could hear all her comments (which I won't repeat) and her attitude. Paid and sat down and lady/s behind the till stopped serving customers to look over at us and mutter stuff between them. Could they not see the queue? I have never felt so bad for suggesting somewhere I have been in the past to a friend with a CHILD... she felt uncomfortable the whole time after being stared at and talked about it. I will say, this was the only child there, others were babies in prams or elderly people so I admit it must have been such a shock to see someone aged in the middle... Won't be visiting again or recommending. It's a shame as before I had a wonderful experience and was excited to visit again.

Visited here for a refuel during our family shopping trip to Trentham Shopping Village today! My mum and I are allergic to dairy, so I called the cafe before we visited to ask if any dairy free drinks were available, and was informed which drinks were dairy-free friendly, which was very helpful (an allergen menu on their website would be even more helpful! So as I wouldn't need to bother then during what I appreciate to be a busy time). We were served by Becky, who was very friendly and helpful, and made sure that our order was just right (which drinks needed to be dairy-free, small or large drinks, etc, accepting our stamped loyalty card and giving us a new one). We were told that we could go and sit down and our drinks would be brought to our table for us. They took a little while but the staff were very apologetic for the wait (even though the store was packed they coped very well with all the orders) and our drinks were all perfect - lovely and warming and tasted absolutely delicious! Highly recommend this cafe, always service with a smile, we always have fantastic service here whether it is busy or quiet when we visit. Will be back in future!

When we go to Trentham Gardens, the first place we go to, Cadwaladers for a takeaway coffee or ice cream. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and go out of the way to insure are experience is very good in this trying times, good on them, and when we are back to the new normal Cadwaladers is the place for my family. Just popped in today Sunday for a coffee and bacon sandwich 🥪🥪 for Teddy bear 🧸 and Maple 🍁, and they loved it. Good to go for a long walk. After the walk we popped in for a coffee ☕☕☕☕to warm up. Good service friendly staff and clean warm restaurant.

Business is difficult now , I get that , accepting card payment only for ice cream , is however total madness . What will you do in Trentham with queues out onto the street in Summer , you can see the scenario now , kids and older people queuing just to be turned away because they don't have cards . Use that rule in the cafe if you must but not just for take away ice cream sales . I queued today only to be told this when we already had the ice creams , no sign in evidence nor were we told this was the case prior to ordering . Because I only had cash then it was refused even though I offered for the server to keep the change that would have been due from the note but we were allowed to keep the product worth approx £10.00 . Cadwaladers , I am concerned for you as a Welsh person for a Welsh Company , have you completely lost any business acumen that you had ? Do not turn away cash and give away product at the same time . I was happy enough to get free Ice Cream but honestly this policy of yours is one of complacency and shows complete lack of regard and respect for the customer . Remember there is extremely high quality Snugburys ice - cream on offer just around the corner there .I suggest if you do not wish to find yourself in receivership again you reverse this situation and promptly !

Just to note that the response from Cadwaladers was as mealy mouthed as expected and they have no intention of changing their card only policy in spite of their customers preferences' - So Ice- Cream lovers you know what to do , don't waste your time trying to buy your favourite flavours at Cadwaladers 9 outlets , find another retailer who welcomes you ! Try these - Trentham - Crepe + Waffle , Betws Y Coed - Food to Go , Cardiff - Joe's , Barry - Zio's , Tenby - Fecci's , Porthmadog - Cariad , Criccieth - Cariad , Porthcawl - Fablas -...

Going back just over two months but not forgotten and they certainly deserve an honest review. Firstly I was not happy that a big cafe like that had no table service. Having worked most of my life in the hospitality industry I find such a lack of service as extremely poor... Anyway, I had ordered at the counter a tea, a waffle with fruit and maple sauce and a pot of vanilla ice cream. When I sat down the table was sticky and dirty, the cheap looking menus were covered in some sticky mock. Unfortunately I already ordered otherwise I would have had left at that point. Tea was fine. The waffle was something else... It is promoted as freshly baked, topped with fruit. Well, I am a baker and I bake waffles, and I know very well how a freshly baked waffle tastes like... What I got was a waffle that was taken out of a packet and microwaved. And I know it because it turned rock hard as soon as it cooled down. Freshly backed waffles stay soft even when they cool down... The fruit was not fresh, it was cooked, absolutely awful. The vanilla ice cream had absolutely no trace of actual vanilla in it, the taste was artificial and the texture was disappointing. I did not finish the ice cream, so it melted in the pot, and the melted stuff was a watery liquid with some foam on top... So you pay a lot of money for a watery, airy, artificial something. The dark haired lady who cleared the tables, who was slightly older than the rest, was nice and was very chatty. Would I recommend Cadwalders to anyone? If you want quality, a good service, and value for...
