This was one of the worst meals I've eaten out. It's a very odd place. There was only us and one other table, but we were put on a little table right next to the kitchen window, so at one point the waitress was reaching over us to grab things from the hatch, which was just very strange.
We didn't go for the all you can eat for £18.95 option as we only wanted a quick bite and didn't plan on ordering much - the waitress double checked this with us so she definitely knew. When the food arrived I couldn't believe the portion sizes... £8.50 for calamari - what we got was TWO pieces of calamari! The other plates were small portions too, and everything tasted fine at best (except the meatballs which were extremely dry), but nothing tasted fresh.
When we asked for the bill I mentioned the price of the calamari and the portion size, and the waitress whispered to us so the chef wouldn't hear and said she'll make it half price as she thinks the chef didn't know we weren't having the all you can eat. While I appreciate her willingness to knock half off the price, £4.25 is still a lot to pay for 2 pieces of calamari, and I can't understand why it wasn't communicated to the chef that we weren't on the all you can eat menu. Also, if that's the case it means we were served small portions for all the items we ordered, so we should have had half knocked off everything! In the moment we really wanted to just leave, so didn't think to mention this, but I really wish we had.
It ended up very expensive for what we ate, and despite there only being 2 tables, the service was slow and we needed to ask the staff to come to our table a few times. It was hard to get the attention of one of them because she was more interested...
Read moreI did enjoy my meal here, but there were numerous items which did not sit well with me. The prices for individual plates were very high versus the amount of food you got: my chorizo and red wine dish only had three small pieces of chorizo, the meatballs (which were more like tiny burger patties) was priced at £7.50 but you only got two, the bread basket was just small almost diced pieces of (admittedly tasty) bread, and my fried brie should have been double the size compared to the price of the plate.
Some of the dishes came with a strawberry sauce - I really do not recommend having the sauce. I swear it's actually meant to be for ice cream rather than with a savoury meal!
I also noticed that the menus were dirty, and the music was so loud in the restaurant that we had to sit by the window to escape the worst of it.
Now for the positives: some of the dishes we ordered were delicious, I recommend the chicken skewers and the earlier mentioned chorizo on red wine! The waiter was attentive and friendly. The menu we had was part of an all-you-can-eat with a set price, which does offset some of the portion size issues mentioned earlier.
If you come here I would recommend ensuring that the all-you-can-eat set price menu is on, avoid the strawberry sauce (unless it's on a dessert!), and be prepared for...
Read moreBooked table for 6:30, only 1 other cpl in upstairs when arrived. Didnt have any clue that it was only the 'all you can eat' menu that was on. Waited over half hr for 1st order of 3 dishes each, couldn't tell what one skewer was from the other and when they came, it was literally 2 mins after giving us complimentary starter for waiting so long. After that waited 20 mins for waitress to take next course order then another 35/40 min for them to arrive, 2 of which were tastless and bland. Didn't get to have 3rd course coz was in there soo long we had lost our patience and my appetite (xomin upto nearly 2 n hlf hrs. Then they STILL had the nerve to charge full price for the all you can eat menu 2x 20.95 plus drinks!! Even though they gave us a till slip to say that 3 dishes each were free coz we clearly wasn't happy. Overall the dishes were tiny, not worth the price. Mostly bland and Music was also very loud and repetitive, could barely hear ourselves think. Would not...
