A very wet and windy Sunday afternoon in the cosy, friendly atmosphere of Heaton Moor’s Elizabethan, food was awesome and the service again a winner, made to feel extremely welcome, outstanding customer service, just what we needed on a typical Manchester wet stormy afternoon, 2 Sunday roasts with bottomless Yorkshire puddings and gravy also made the day! Really worth a visit!

Fantastic pub lunch with a generous, delicious portion of fish and chips! I went for the "Northern Upgrade" which is a lovely curry sauce and some bread and butter for an extra quid! Bargain. No beer for me as I was driving but I had a lovely cup of tea, and definitely will have a beer next time I visit ☺️👍🏻

We got a table for Father's Day, even though it was busy, the staff were very cheerful and happy. Our waitress was brilliant (dark hair with a couple of wisps at the side) and looked after us brilliantly. Nice touch with a free glass and a beer voucher too!

We attended today and it wasn't great. First of all we arrived and were just left standing, even though staff walked past us and saw us standing there. I had to go to the bar and ask if we could sit anywhere. We were sat down by a member of the bar staff. No menus were given and again we were ignored and I had to again go to the bar and ask for menus.

I ordered our drinks, and I ordered a tea. The tea took forever to come and when it did I was given no milk. When I asked for the milk, I had to wait another 10 minutes and when it came, it was in a coffee cup. I had more milk than tea!

On to the food. The starter was such a let down. The toast was tiny and wafer thin. It was supposed to come with tomato and Greek style cheese. It came without the cheese so I had to send it back. The lady brought it back and it had 3 small cubes of " Greek style Cheese ". It was not worth £7. We then waited nearly 40 minutes for our main to come! I was just about to go up and cancel our order and go to the chippy instead when the food arrived. I had the steak and ale pie. It was okay but the Mushy peas were stone cold and the chunky chips could have done with another 5 minutes. If we hadn't already waited so long for the mains I would have sent it back. The desert was too much for me. I ordered I fruit compote which was supposed to come with Crème Freche, but I must have had a tea spoons worth of a dollop on top, and it was so Tarte I struggled to eat it.

Then on top of that they got my bill wrong. The waitress apologised for the wait time as they were busy. She should have really forwarned us of this at the start, not at the end when it came time to pay and the possibility of a tip. I think she only apologise because she could see we were very annoyed. From the level of service to the standard of food it was poor today. I understand it was busy, and I am usually a little more forgiving than most would be because I used to work in hospitality, so I know how difficult the working environment can be. But there are standards that should always be kept to and this wasn't one of those days. Even one of the other waitresses who came to take my cup away had a face like a slapped backside, as though she really didn't want to be...

First review from 2018.

The food and atmosphere here are pleasant. The staff are friendly. Small car park at the rear which you can claim back the parking cost and have it applied to your final bill . Overall a good place for a social drink and food with friends and family. The overall cost of food and drinks are reasonable and moderately priced.

Edited on the 23rd of March 2019 after visiting on 22nd of March 2019.

Arrived here with friends and ordered food at around 19:45 3 meals and a side with 2 drinks. The drinks arrived promptly, however, after 45 minutes still no food, asked for this to be checked and no response. Gave it another 15 minutes and still no food after an hour of ordering so chased it up again and we actually got told that it was ready to come out. Another 5 minutes passed (it was approximately 21:15 at this point) and a young waiter came over stating that 2 meals were ready but they had dropped the final meal and the side so someone wasn't getting what they ordered, but they could have anything else off the menu. Obviously we stated that after an hour and a half and only 2 meals were ready we were leaving and didn't want the food. They had offered us a discount before saying they dropped the food and they gave us our drinks for free. But we sadly ended up at a fast food restaurant due to all the other local sit down pub style restaurants were closing due to the time being late for food. 21:30 when we left The Elizabethan, hungry and rather disappointed with our evening in there. Only upside was the...

Hate leaving bad review. But after directly speaking to the manager and basically disregarded apart from a free drink. Which after 2 hours of waiting around we honestly just wanted to leave and declined.

Been to this pub many times as a family for drinks never eaten but always looked and smelt good. So when my daughter asked can she go for her 13th birthday instantly said yes. We booked a table party of 10. Ordered 3 starters took 25 mins and was over cooked but cold. Then when the main came 2 out of 5 dishes came out again leaving a 10/15 minutes wait for the next 3 dishes. I ordered the Sunday lunch with unlimited gravy and Yorkshire puddings. I did ask for more gravy as there was minimal, at that time he asked if anyone wants more Yorkshire puddings order now as they take 15minutes....what's the point of offering unlimited if you have to wait, and more to the point I even waited for gravy... All in all food very disappointing not very warm and felt like it was cooked earlier then microwaved. Finally as it was my daughter's birthday we brought cake asked for them to bring it out with desert, desert came no cake went to ask apparently they didn't know about it waited another 10 mins or so finally came no plates etc. Absolutely shocking you only turn 13 once and my daughter put on a brave face but I could see that she was upset. I don't expect anything back. But to at least acknowledge my daughter and make abit of a fuss of her would of gone a long way but nothing. So...
