I’ll start with the positive point. The food is nice, good quality. The pesto parcels are very tasty!
Unfortunately there are some big negatives. First is the wait times, I’m going to refer to the last two times we’ve used them, but we have also has issues on previous orders. On our first visit we waited there half an hour longer than when quoted over the phone. The second time we used them (only ordered 2 items) we made it very clear that they needed to be honest about the timing and what is realistic. Even after having this conversation, again we were sat in the restaurant waiting for at least 25 mins (55 mins in total).
Unfortunately, waiting in the restaurant for your order is in my top 5 most awkward places to be. There are customers sat in to eat who’re being quite frankly neglected and have also clearly been waiting a very long time for their food. There’s one chap in there who’s quite friendly and at least apologises for the delay when handing over your order. The other guy is incredibly rude and almost looked annoyed with us walking in, also no friendly welcome, when I went over to the kitchen to inform them which order we were there for, he looked at me like I was speaking a different language! Not sure why this is thought to be acceptable?!?!?
Conclusion… Nice food, but be prepared to be let down on wait times and customer service. I also would only recommend this as...
Read moreProper top notch ingredient, unique flavour combos and freshly spun, wood fired pizza are what to expect from the Dough Guys. There's a real streetfood vibe to the menu, the location, and the ethos.
On our first visit we had the Nduja (Spicy Sausage), Salami and Mow's Spiced Honey, and the Napoli Anchovies, Olives, Capers and loved both. Since then People's Pizza or Blue Monday have become favourites, alongside a siracha or aioli crust dip. Sides include the unique dough-mosa, a mini calzone style take on the samosa with a pesto and mozzarella filling, and alongside the standard vegetarian there are vegan versions of speciality topping like nduja (vee-doo-yaa) and bratwurst.
This is a sit in or takeaway venue. The beer menu will make any craft fan happy featuring North west breweries like shindigger, seven brothers, mbh, Northern, as well as Caerdydd's Tiny Rebel.
♿There are two tall oil drum tables, and window and side wall shelf tables. It's all tall stools and this - along with the single step entrance - sounds like it's not disabled friendly, but wheelchair users are amongst the regulars who confirmed the pizza was worth the stretch.
We're regulars, always welcomed by Mark and staff, and always welcome to table top game for as long as we want. Home from home, these are our...
Read moreI wanted this place to be good. I really did. It’s in that area between the town centre and Heaviley where we could do with more places to eat. But having ordered twice from them I’ve not been very impressed. First time we had a pizza and a garlic bread. Garlic bread was very tasty, but the pizza not great. The marinara sauce was VERY sweet. We decided to give it another go the other day, ordering a different pizza this time. Unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. The delivery was supposed to arrive at 7:30. We called twice - once at 7:50 and again at 8:05 to chase it up. No answer either time despite leaving phone messages. We were genuinely worried it might be closed and that our order had gone through online in error. I eventually decided to go to the restaurant to check. Two members of staff were in there - they said the order had “just gone”. No apology or explanation for the delay. Nor from the delivery driver when he eventually showed up. The pizza and garlic bread had both been kicking around for a good while as they were cold and very chewy. I know they say third time is the charm but I don’t think I’ll be spending more money with these guys...
