Eden Bar & Eatery — Restaurant in Stockport

Three of us dined on a busy Friday evening, and while the atmosphere was lively, the acoustics made it difficult to hear one another without shouting. The staff were friendly, which was a positive, but unfortunately, the wait times were disappointing. It took over ten minutes just to receive our two soft drinks (bottles out of a fridge and a glass), and the wait for our food was over 45 minutes. While we understand it was a peak time, such delays are hard to overlook. Restaurants can anticipate these busy periods and should ensure there are enough staff members behind the bar and in the kitchen to maintain a smoother service. We were left checking our watches far too often during the meal, which detracted from what could have been an enjoyable experience.

Thankfully, when the food did arrive, it was of an excellent standard, which helped redeem the experience and kept this review from being lower.

This was our third visit. Our first was great and we really enjoyed the food. The second not so great. I found the Banana Leaf Grill far too sweet although the bao buns with duck and the vegetable spring rolls were tasty (but the spring rolls weren’t crispy as claimed on the menu) On our last visit we had bao buns and spring rolls again, which were tasty although very salty, as is all the food. My Rempah Chicken was really dried up - it seemed as though the skewers had been left in the oven overnight! The sauce did not make up for that. The sweet potato fries would have been much better if they’d been served with sauce on the side. They were quite soggy. My husband’s Duck Rice was good, however. We had a bottle of the house red (a Merlot) which was OK I would suggest that all customers should be offered tap water, rather than wait for them to ask for it. Celebrated my daughters 21st Birthday here on the 4th May. I contacted Juan to arrange a small(ish) family celebration and it was exactly what we wanted! From the moment I confirmed the booking everything was so easy, nothing for the bar was too much trouble, helpful, responds really well and great value for money. We had hot buffet style food on the night and everyone is still talking about the food! Absolutely amazing we loved it.
