A Sunday roast is a difficult thing to get right, we all have our own interpretations of what constitutes a fantastic Sunday lunch, and often we are disappointed. I didn’t leave Cure thinking, wow, we will have to go back there for a Sunday lunch, nor did I think I’d never set foot in the place again. The food was tasty, but just not hot enough. I don’t think there’s any excuse for serving a roast on a barely warm dplate. Obviously, the Yorkshire puddings were a disappointment - I wouldn’t take a mark off for this because unless my mother is making them, they will never be amazing. The roast beef was tasty and well cooked, the gravy adequate, but come on guys, there were two very small carrots on my plate which frankly is the epitome of being stingeu. You guys can pop down to the local Aldi and buy at least a kilo of these orange lovelies for less than 40p. I’m afraid this shortage of vegetables just didn’t make sense. I can’t complain about the quantity of roast beef, there was plenty for me. Staff were generally attentive, in fact at times there were more staff than customers which in my view made the place lack some atmosphere. By far the best part of the experience was the dessert menu - the pistachio profiteroles were a delight. Full marks for the coffee, far better than anything I’ve tasted at other establishments on the HMR strip recently. So, a few areas of improvement would have raised my score here: the food being hotter, the plates on which the food was served also needed to be heated, improve those Yorkshire puddings, let’s have a bit more vegetable accompaniment (carrots and greens) and there’s a good chance this place could become a regular go to for a Sunday roast in...
Read moreI wanted to leave a review for this restaurant because I’m a little surprised by how many positive reviews it has received. We booked a table here for a Sunday roast as a birthday treat for my in-laws, and were disappointed to find that there was no lager option (there was only one on draught and that was off) and they had completely sold out of yorkshire puddings by the time we sat down (5pm). We were baffled as to why they couldn’t make more batter - or even just buy some in from the nearby shop - especially as the menu’s big sell was the yorkshires! We asked if we could have more potatoes to make up for this, and the waiter cheerfully assured us that wouldn’t be a problem. But when our roast dinners came, we each had just two tiny roast potatoes… and some small slices of bread!! 🤔 This wasn’t addressed by the staff at any point and the bill still included service charge. There was only a spoonful of vegetables on each plate, too. While it was nice to have individual gravy boats, it would have been even nicer if there had been some food to put it on! The staff were attentive and friendly but good service can’t make up for a lack of good hearty food - especially at £40 per person for a roast, a drink, and a small dessert. We had high hopes for this place but were left pretty disappointed - and pretty hungry. Also (not that this matters too much) but there were several spelling mistakes on the menu: Bloody Marry (not Mary?) and Desert Yorkshires (are these found in...
Read moreMy partner and I visited for a romantic date night, and this restaurant exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the incredible front-of-house team — their enthusiasm and friendly smiles immediately made us feel appreciated and at home.
The staff are truly a credit to the establishment. One team member went above and beyond by guiding my partner through their impressive whisky selection, helping him choose the Cotswolds Single Malt — a fantastic recommendation for any whisky lover! He enjoyed it so much that we are purchasing a bottle from M&S!
To start, my partner had the mushroom dish, which he described as rich, creamy, and so delicious he could’ve happily had three more bowls. I chose the baked brie, and it was a revelation - the saltiness of the cheese paired perfectly with a tangy, fruity chutney, creating a flavour combination I didn’t know I needed.
For mains, my partner had the prawn gamberoni, which he found full of flavour and perfectly satisfying. I opted for the tagliatelle diavola, and I can honestly say it was the best pasta dish I’ve ever had - and that includes meals I’ve had in Italy!
From the outstanding service to the exceptional food and warm atmosphere, everything was flawless. We’ll absolutely be returning regularly - and I already know where I’ll be celebrating my birthday! Thank you for such a...
