Martins Bakery — Restaurant in Stockport

Had a few visits to this Martins Branch since they recently opened and tried different things each time.

My overall verdict is that it's just another soulless chain bakery with little passion put into the food that is served.

I've just had a sausage and bacon muffin for my breakfast. The muffin was a nice Lancashire style oven bottom. The bacon was okay. The sausage was very dry. Overall very average.

Also had a Jamaican pasty which was very dissapointing. Zero flavour. Zero spice. Not even seasoned inside no salt just a greasy bland pasty that should probably be removed from the menu as its an insult to carribean inspired food.

I've also ordered a couple of sandwiches in the past which were okay. Cold and fresh but not particularly mesmerising in any way.

Credit where credit is due its not all bad they do a chicken balti pie which is actually very nice. And some decent cakes in fairness.

Overall its a bit on the expensive side for the general quality of food.

Average at best and not value for money.

I bought my family some pasty’s for lunch, this included two steak bakes and two steak pies. I will emphasise they were completely disappointing. Not only did the pasty just taste of pepper (which is not disclosed in the name of the food), it was soggy and just not a nice flavour at all- I couldn’t eat it. The steak pie wasn’t steak it was actually mince meat- and although it was slightly better than the pasty it was still unenjoyable and I was yet again unable to finish it. It just tasted of mush and pepper. Again it was cold and soggy- I feel like an establishment like Martins should be able to not only serve hot food but also food that is edible for people. An overpriced place for inadequate...

I just want to do this review in hopes they it will get the staff to work on their hygiene.

I was in the bakery today and noticed both staff handling food with bare hands as well as opening and closing the till and handling the money along with touching the ovens and the bin all with bare hands and not once did they wash their hands.

Im not sure what kind of food hygiene training they have had but they need to be retrained because...
