We were really looking forward to see the Bulls Head now it was finally open. The outside area looks amazing and inside was lovely and fresh too. However the food was dreadful. The portions are really small and more like childrens portions. My son ordered a sirloin steak which came with a few chips a few tomatoes and overcooked broken egg on top. He couldn’t chew the first piece he cut and we said try another piece but had to spit it out. I complained to the poor girl behind the bar who was run ragged as she seemed to be on her own. She went to the kitchen to speak to the chef and came back and said do you want it cooking a bit more. I explained we wanted the steak medium rare which is was so cooking it more would defeat the object and it was clearly poor quality. I said can we either have a refund or have something else as my son was really hungry. She said i will have to speak to my manager. I was told the manager said they were not willing to refund me for the meal as the egg and half the steak had been eaten. He had tried to eat what he could before we complained! So i asked if he could have a burger and she said ill have to ask so off she went again in the mean time a massive que was forming at the bar. Surely a good manager would of come to to see what the problem was instead of having the poor girl running back and to. The burger was ok but we were not happy with what we were served and the customer service and we will not be coming back. Looking at other reviews before i wrote this i can see that i am not the only one unhappy with...
Read moreIt was a grey and rainy Friday.. that myself and my esteemed colleague decided to call in for a working lunch. We were greeted by an extremely warm welcome. I was served instantly… 2 excellent beverages… I located a seat by the enormous TV.. I requested the tv to be turned up… as it was Ashes time…. Again the requested was instantly actioned… I felt like nothing was too much trouble for the staff… however it was crunch..: with England staring down the barrel of defeat in the cricket… myself and partner in crime decided to order some food… we were spoilt for choice with the menu… then if things couldn’t get any better (for us… it’s a shame the same couldn’t be said for the England cricket team) the young lady from behind the bar… declared there was offer on 2 main meals for £15…. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing especially in the current inflationary climate… we both plumped for the award winning beef and ale pie. With chips of course… it was a Friday after all. The wait for our food was in acceptable time scales. We were served a healthy portion of pie chips and broccoli… and a separate gravy boat. The first taste to the last was incredible a gastronomic delights. Crunchy chips…firm broccoli… lashings of thick gravy…. And the pie I’m sure what awards it’s won… but it deserves more… as the late Tina Turner said simply the best…we’re still here… cricket still not looking so good… but the hospitality could hit the...
Read moreUnfortunately, as we arrived, they were expecting a delivery. There were only two members of staff on and it was getting very busy. We ordered cheese toasties and a portion of chips. The toasties were at the same time burnt and rubbery. We couldn’t eat them. The chips were perfect though. When I pointed it that the toasties were inedible, I was offered a box to take them home in 🙄. We then ordered two coffees and a chocolate fudge cake. The coffees arrived, but our dirty plates were left on the table! We then waited fifteen mins for the dessert to arrive. A member of staff then whisked the plates away and then plonked a box on the table with our inedible sandwiches inside! I had already said we wouldn’t be taking a doggie bag home! The delivery arrived and the place went into chaos. People were queuing at the bar whilst the staff rushed about.
I appreciate that deliveries need to be made but surely they could be better timed for a slot where there are no, or very few, customers in the pub?
First, and sadly the last, time we’ve been since the refurb. Very...
