Regalia — Restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent

Honestly highly disappointed. Was the first time in the area. The menu did have a good variety. Only one waiter for the really large space. We asked estimated time it would for the order, and they said as everything is made fresh it would be around 20mins- said that’s fine. At about 50 minutes later we asked the waiter about our food, we got a reply it should be coming, “maybe the kitchen forgot, but I will check.” We laughed it off but when the food came very late we were started eating only to realise the salad had a very strange smell, like it had been kept against meat or something. Complained to the waiter who said it always fresh, they replaced it and the second salad was perfectly fine, not sure what was wrong with the first.

It doesn’t end there, then we had hair in the mutton chops which didn’t match anyone’s hair on our table, only complained to the waiter when he asked about how the food was because at this point all expectations on service had been dropped. He took the hair inside the kitchen, came to say it’s not from inside there because the chef is a women. And so it can’t be from the kitchen- he implied it would be from the table as no mans is in the kitchen. We saw countless men’s, even a young boy coming out of kitchen. The kitchen doors had glass, you could see many people in there, one even with a beard and no hair nets. But straight up lying was very bad service. After all of this even the chicken wings were raw, none of the meat was succulent or flavourful. It was very disappointing. We even asked for spoons as we had ordered Biryani, but never got served spoons. At that point it was pointless to bring anything up but at the point of payment we did express the raw chicken and bad service. The waiter said he can call the manager, we said sure it’s feedback that should be taken, he only said he can apologise, didn’t take any ownership towards the issues. Not a friendly place, food was highly disappointing and hygiene standards were zero, service was sub par. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER HAD SERVICE AS BAD AS THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!! Went on a Sunday not very busy, ordered kids meal, tawa for 2 and sirloin steak. The waiter asked if we would like the childrens meal coming out first to which I said yes not knowing our food would be 40 mins later but still if it's freshly cooked food it's understandable. Tawa came out i was then advised the nan/roti (with the tawa) and steak would come out shortly 🙄 finally they did the steak was still 'mooing' on the plate after I had repeatedly asked for well done i explained this to the waiter who said are you sure it's not just the juices?! So I showed him to which he agreed and took it to the back and said 'oh on the order it said medium' which i know was not said but we can cook it i refused and said I don't wish to wait any longer nock it off the bill and to have the rest of the tawa packed as I didn't want be there any longer we still had not received drinks that we ordered at the very start. He took the tawa to the back to be packed someone from the back came and slat the bag on the table ovs need customer service training. I asked for the bill and went to the front printed receipt still had steak on which I queried the waiter said i asked at the back and they said I can't take that off to which I said I want my food then cooked to how it should be and packed the waiter at the counter asked me what the issue was I explained and I said i know the owner don't take criticism well reading previous reviews but still thought try this place out to which he agreed my every point and apologised (not his fault) the other waiter came back with the food not much different steak still the same and cold!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER again avoid this place guys shame they can't better themselves by taking feedback on...

I regret having to write this review, as I had such high hopes for our experience, but it was quite disappointing. Let's start with the positives: the staff were all lovely and friendly, without exception. The decor was pleasant, and the upstairs toilets were the nicest, most spacious, and cleanest I've ever seen. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end.

It took over an hour for our food to arrive after ordering. Another couple, who had also been waiting a similar length of time, eventually left, which in hindsight, we should have done as well. Every item on our plates was either cold, undercooked, or bland. Although we requested the steak to be medium rare, it arrived very rare. This might have been acceptable if it tasted good, but it was chewy with an overpowering burnt pepper and garlic flavour. The mashed potatoes were hard and cold in some places, and every single chip was undercooked. I tried several, hoping to find a few that were properly cooked, but most were partially raw. The mac and cheese was dreadful, and the lasagne was inconsistently heated, with some parts warm and others cold. The chicken burger was also bland, although the accompanying fries were somewhat edible.

We left more than half of our food uneaten, even though we dislike wasting food, as we couldn't risk falling ill from food poisoning. For £60, not including drinks, this was appalling value, and I hope management can implement the necessary changes, as the place...
