Visited on a wowcher afternoon tea deal on a quiet Tuesday lunchtime, around half an hour after opening time. Oh dear. Firstly as a previous reviewer stated, the toilet simply can't have been cleaned since the previous day. We pointed this out to the server later in our visit. Our tea, which was stewed, arrived, but we had to ask for teaspoons! We then had the only other customer's order brought to our table, which rather confused us and our server. The actual items on the afternoon tea were pretty one dimensional we thought. It was all too "samey" with waffles and pancakes being very similar, chocolate muffin and brownies obviously the same sort of item and a very hard croissant. The strawberries and raspberries in a wafer basket were a nice touch however. To start with we had a sweet waffle with savoury toppings, which we had to send back as the waffles were stone cold. The sweet items arrived very shortly afterwards, which meant anything warm on there (pancakes) would be cold if we had eaten them after our savoury course. My waffle (chicken bacon, egg beans) was nice enough when it reappeared but the wife wasn't so keen on the "steak" slice in her chicken tikka legend, which tasted rather like donner meat. We had to also send the pancakes back because (and the server agreed and apologised saying the cook was new) they were very burnt on one side. Due to the sweet items being pretty similar to one another we ate about half and took the rest away in a bag. We really think there should have been something different to what was there, maybe a small lemon tart or light Victoria sponge or similar to break up the stodge a bit. And who has afternoon tea with no scone?! The server was very apologetic for our experience. We're not serial complainers but something like an afternoon tea should be pretty simple for a dessert shop to execute, especially on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe placed a large order for the family. The items included chocolate cake, brownie, pancake, crepe, waffles, hot chocolate, ice cream and finally milkshakes. The ONLY decent thing we recieved were the milkshakes.
Cakes and brownies are a major disappointment, and not as described on the website. They were extremely dry and therefore impossible to eat. We threw away two full brownies as they were to dry to eat.
Waffles/crepes/pancakes were slightly better and definitely more edible. However I can make better pancakes at home for a matter of 50p in comparison to the large amount we spent at this shop. The pancake mix is very gooey and sticky, as if it hadn't been fully cooked. Even being undercooked they tasted better than the brownies and cakes.
Hot chocolate was luke warm and had very little flavour. I could've drank warm water and had the same satisfaction.
Ice cream is definitely not as advertised. These are chocolate chip ice cream without any brownies or caramel which it falsely advertises on the website.
Milkshakes are the one and only good thing about this place. They are lush and come jam packed with delicious flavour. However I'd recommend order a small size as they are very sickly.
Another issue is with the shops delivery driver. He left out order on the pavement outside the block of flats we live in. Very poor service, and I can't imagine is manager would be too pleased to learn of this
Overpriced is a major understatement. I'm really disappointed with the amount of money we spent and the lack of quality and enjoyment we recieved. Prices are extortionate and products don't live up to expectations. I've had better brownies and cakes from Lidl.
Don't waste your money, because I guarantee it will be a waste and it won't be a small some of money either with the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have ordered from here many times. Every single time it had taken 1-2 hours to arrive, sometimes a little longer. I had one arrive 4 hours late once because their Deliveroo machine didnāt work, which makes you wonder why they still use Deliveroo if their machine doesnāt work?? AnyWHO - I wrote on my notes to only deliver my food if it were to arrive before a certain time to ensure it got there within a reasonable time. Bearing in mind I donāt live too far from hanley either. Now the cake I had was okay and the milkshake was good as always. The sundae however, was awful. The gelato or ice cream was frozen through and had bits of ice all over, and the brownie was pretty much in a clump at the bottom of the cup. I left a review of this on just eat but havenāt had a response so thought I would leave one here. This is unacceptable. I have had so many issues with you in terms of how long it takes for you to deliver the food but I have never complained even though I should have because I could have probably got my money back on these expensive snacks but I didnāt because I love the food you make. But this is a joke. I spent Ā£20 and the one time it comes in a semi okay time is the time itās...
