UPDATE 13/08/2023 - After the previous great visit I decided to book this venues private dining space which seated up to 20 people and it was superb! The service overall was amazing and the staff as always keen and attentive. The room itself was brilliant and nicely self contained. Celebrating my 30th birthday with family and friends. The food was spot on - Birds and the Bees Burger for me, although everyone's food looked and smelled amazing. Highly recommended and the space wasn't chargeable just needed advanced notice and also a pre-book on the meals so they ensured they could meet the meal requirements. Truely amazing! ---------- A fabulous experience for a late lunch at the Cox's Yard. A quiet time of day but the service was absolutely amazing. Daejon was our main waiter and he had a great lively and positive attitude, kind and courteous with a smile and charm too. Very respectful and very attentive right from walking into the venue. The service was quick and the food was delicious, I highly recommend the chicken burger and a side of the sweet potato fries...importantly ask for the devil Mayo (fresh Scotch bonnet Mayo) it's a perfect companion to the fries for sure. Finished off with a warm brownie and vanilla ice-cream which was beautifully warm and gooey as it should be with a dash of honeycomb crisp and garnished with mint. End of the service was also completed by Silvia who was also very kind and helpful. Big Kudos to the chef/kitchen team as well today - they smashed it out of the park! All in all you can't falter the beautiful, cosy, rustic venue. And if the service was as good as today it's a Stratford-Upon-Avon must!

We came in here for the first time and the atmosphere was good for what appeared to be a sports bar, chose a nice cushioned bench joined the free WiFi and ordered fish and chips, burger and chips and 2 diet cokes, with the expected pre paid 10% tip that was £50!! Unfortunately our experience went downhill from there, the premium priced food was server in little takeaway boxes, the fish in particular impossible to eat like that so I had to tear the box open, but the worst part was the nasty cheap wooden cutlery, it was impossible to cut anything, especially when the base was cardboard and paper so we both tore our food into pieces. My fork broke in half while attempting to spear a chip. The food was actually pretty nice but the fish was the size of a small fish from a chip shop, but for £20! If this had cost £20-£25 as a takeaway but not for £50. An experience we will not be repeating.

We visited after a dog walk for a couple of drinks and some food late afternoon on a Saturday. Sitting outside is lovely as you're right by the river. The option to order food from your phone to the table is handy except it didn't seem to accept 2 of my cards which was frustrating but the 3rd card, it had no issue with?? There was a good selection of beers (relatively) locally brewed. The waiter was knowledgeable on their selection and gave us some good tips! I ordered the standard burger at £15 which was well cooked with good quality meat and a lot of chips! My only comment would be that the chips could have been better/crispier. It all came to the table in good time though. Definitely not the best burger I've had and it's a little bit pricier here for what you get but the location makes up for it.

Staff are very rude repeating over and the menu online when i was inside to get a physical menu which was sat on the bar area and even explaining to the rude male individual in a green top then just goes ok and walks off which actally lost them 4 paying customers and then stood pointing me out in the cafe next door then came out with a cloth over his shoulder smoking and staring over, this is very off putting for customer if they get this treatment when then come for something to eat

updated in reference to the response from owner, we did not have an issue with the menu being online and having to order online it was so 2 of the people in our party could actually read a physical menu Instead of passing a phone around, which you have for people to view as you would not have a physical copy or spent money as a business on physical copies of a menu, the off putting thing was more the rudeness of the staff member that I have mentioned in my review Who would rather be rude to customers than actually been helpful? So if that's your first impression, and that's what operates a customer service for your business, then it doesn't matter about what you've said about. Yeah, we hold 200 odd people and we all that we do online orders during our busy peak times which I get that but it's more the fact of. What gave this bad review? Is your staff member who was being rude? just because we've gone to look for a physical menu which you offer. Then actually just passing a phone around and going yeah that's the menu also what was off putting is the fact said staff member has then gone over to your cafe and is pointing people out to other staff member and then coming outside and Staring directly at us as we were leaving the area this is what has gave you this bad...

Unfortunately I have very little good to say about Cox's Yard. When we arrived it was unclear where we could and could not order food. We went outside (as it was a lovely sunny day) and a sign stated "please wait here to be seated", we hung around and then went to ask a waiter what's the situation and he essentially told us we could just take a menu and sit wherever. I overheard others also asking about food ordering to be told they could only order food if there were outside? Next we eventually got sat down and ordered our food (starter, mains and a drink). The starters came out with no cutlery placed on the table beforehand, we then found that all cutlery/salt/pepper etc was on a separate table, it was not specified if this was a help yourself scenario or it was supposed to be given to you by staff before. Starters were fine but, and this is an overall common theme, there seemed to be an issue with what tables had ordered what food. Despite the tables being numbered and us advising at the time of ordering what the table number was, the wrong starter came out. Next was mains, by this time a large party had also turned up and ordered at least 15 meals. All their food came out before ours because, as it turned out, they had claimed our meals as part of their large group. Again, I stress, there are table numbers so how difficult is it to get a meal to it's correct table? The only thing that was handled satisfactory was the management refunding the cost of our meal altogether, it's just a shame it came to that. I understand this is a long review but this whole experience was a bit of a shambles for not a particularly busy...
