Remember this place in 1973 when moved up from London. Was the Albion and had several rooms, including a snug where the ladies drank. Run by Earnie Walker and it one year under his tenancy it won a Pub of the year. All changed now with the open plan now favoured by current trends. Hasn't lost too much of its popularity despite being back to back with the Cooper Rose (Weather spoons) and it still appears to have that 'must call in' attraction for lads and lassies from outlying areas. There are a few rough locals but for the most party it's quite a warm welcoming place. Plenty of places to sit down, bathrooms either side of the building so you don't need to fight through a large crowd if it's busy. The drinks selection is huge and there's a good Gin selection if you're after more than a regular tipple of lager or ale.
Honestly wish I'd knew it was...
