We've been coming to Gay's for over 36 years, and usually, we visit twice a year. Food quality is normally spot on & always tasty. This time, we were left very disappointed & our holiday treat of a cream tea was an anticlimax, to say the least. The quiche & breakfast pie were both delicious and complaints there. The cream tea was very disappointing. The first of four scones literally crumbled in my hand just by picking it up,before I even had chance to use a knife. It was pretty much a hollow scone with no inside. 2 more scones broke into crumbling pieces,it was hard work to get the jam & the cream to stay put without the scones breaking apart further. The final scone was microwaved for 20 seconds & actually cut as it should & stayed intact whilst eating. At £5.50 we did feel disappointed & our usual holiday treat was definitely one we'd rather forget, we will still come back to Gay's but possibly give the iconic cream tea a miss in future unless we get fresh scones

Every year we have to walk to dawlish from the warren and o only do it to visit this place. We have had a photo outside here with us as children, our children now our grandchildren. I just love the BIG special icecream .. £4.00 who knew clotted cream was meant to be on a icecream and they aren’t stingy either it’s huge .. we got a beef and silton pasty and a lamb and mint tray of clotted cream scones and some rock and toys and the obligatory gays merchandise ;-) this year we brought a red pen Don’t forget to sit on the park benches and watch the black swans and her babies watch out for seagulls ..

Called in with a newbie to the area. Her first time and it wasn't disappointing. We had the full on I e cream with cream and flake, at £3.80. it was the best money I've spent in a long long time. It was.just superb. Everything I had promised was delivered. It's on her list of visits with friends in the future. Just a wonderful experience all around. Staff great, terrific selection of pastries and delicatessen type foods together with other other incidentals. It's worth the trip wherever you are coming from. Well be back

I remember being introduced to Gays Creamery a good 5 year or so years ago, with the statement of being the best ice creams ever! I remember being blown away with how incredible vanilla ice cream and Clotted cream tastes together! I took my partner there on our first date, we got some got two of the of the specials with vanilla ice cream and Clotted cream. It melted all over her and created one of my favourite memories! Gays Creamery is packed with incredible items, amazing alcohols with the most incredible flavours and some of the craziest too! Sticks of rock, with so many flavours too, even a Cornish Pasty one (I'm not brave enough to try it). The smell of fresh pasties and pastries fill the air, it's an incredible place if you want to get anything sweet, something lovely for lunch! You have cuddly toys too, I got my partner a plush black swan as she fell in love with it! It has to be one of my favourite places in Dawlish and i always love making a trip to go and visit Gays Creamery, have another Special and a cheeky stick of rock too! I couldn't recommend Gays Creamery anymore! It has items for everyone, and it is the best ice cream I have ever had! Plus it has given me one of my...

Possibly the worse pasties in the world. ... even the cheesey Steves the sell are just awful.. I think u should go to a proper pasty shop and taste the difference how can u even buy this rubbish that u could get a better pasty from a supermarket... I had pasties all over the uk and this is the worse pasty shop in the country by a long shot and should be closed down. I recommend that this pasty shop try the bakery in St Mary Church torquay and try their own pasties before even replying to this review and knowing the pasty in this shop in St Mary Church are much better than what they are servicing customers and people who are on hoilday as well as live in dawlish shouldn't allow this bad experience to put u off buying a proper pasty elsewhere.. The bucheener on babbacome downs u can even get a better pasty than u cam from here do not rely on this place to gey pasties they are...
