Very Disappointing Experience - shockingly sweet and non-authentic dishes plus utterly rude staff to spoil your experience. I visited Amber Palace restaurant today, and unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience. We were excited to try the Paneer Tikka Masala and also ordered Madras chicken curry for my friends but upon tasting it, we were shocked to find both curries overwhelmingly sweet. Despite specifically requesting a spicy version, what we received was a dish (Paneer tikka masala) drenched in a red-colored gravy and full of coconut gravy that was not only sweet but also inedible. The Madras chicken curry was even worse as it was also equally sweet and with coconut gravy - so not at all how this curry is usually prepared. When we brought this to the attention of the restaurant staff, we politely asked for a replacement with any curry that wasn't sweet. However, the manager informed us that this is how they prepare their dishes, leaving us with no options. It was evident that all the curries leaned towards being overly sweet rather than the spicy flavors we were looking for. Concerned about the quality and safety of the food, we decided it was best not to eat anything here to save our health as the food was smelling bad as well. When we requested the bill—without having consumed any food—the manager was rude and insisted we pay the full amount, including a service charge. We questioned the rationale behind charging us for a service we did not receive, which led to an unprofessional argument and further misbehaviour on his part. Feeling unwelcome and frustrated, we ultimately decided to pay the bill and leave without arguing much further. Overall, the combination of subpar food, lack of customer service, and the manager's unprofessional behaviour made for a truly unpleasant dining experience. I cannot recommend this restaurant, and I hope they take these issues seriously. I am so surprised that how council and food safety authorities are allowing such restaurant to run.

Unbelievable service, friendly, warm and welcoming. Came on a stay cation to margate with family for the weekend and this was the last place to leave us with a lasting impression! Chicken kharahi was perfectly cooked, tender and good balance of spice! Cucumbwr raita, prawn jalfrezi, bombay flame were sublime!! Found out we had visited their partnered restaurant in margate which we enjoyed very much, after the waiting staff spoke to us at the end, and felt like this place was a more warm and lively service! The head chef came out and checked food was okay with us and all kitchen staff took the time to come and speak to us when food was finished and it was time to settle the bill! They even gave us a complimentary coke bottle to take for our journey home to London which was very kind!

I should start by saying that if you are after a bog standard English curry in the middle of Broadstairs on a Monday night - it's fine. However, I eat a lot of India / South Asian food and this place comes up when you search for 'fine dining'. It is certainly not that. Décor fine. Service sullen. Food average. Price too high. Somehow our bill for two with minimal drinks was the best part of £50. It was a £30 meal at best. I should also say we are Veggie. As with most Indian restaurants things were generally offered Veggie / Vegan. We had lots of Paneer and I'd say the Paneer was good. So overall, average and overpriced. But it did hit the curry itch at least.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Amber palace, and I must say, it was one of the most disappointing meals I've had in a long time. The food, which I had high hopes for, turned out to be overly watery and excessively sweet. Dishes that should have been rich and flavourful instead left a bland impression, making it difficult to enjoy the meal. It felt as if the kitchen was trying too hard to mask the lack of genuine taste with excessive sugar and water, resulting in a confusing and unsatisfying dining experience.

To make matters worse, the overall cleanliness of the establishment left much to be desired. The tables appeared unkempt, and there was a noticeable lack of attention to basic hygiene standards. The waitstaff, who were supposed to enhance our dining experience, seemed to prioritize their own comfort over the cleanliness of their uniforms. It was unsettling to see waiters with visibly poor hygiene, which only added to the discomfort of the meal.

The atmosphere at the restaurant was not welcoming. Instead of feeling like a valued guest, I felt as if I was an inconvenience to the staff. The front-of-house team seemed disinterested and impatient, rushing us through our meal as if they were eager for us to leave. It created a sense of unease, making it difficult to relax and enjoy the dining experience. I expected a warm and inviting atmosphere typical of Indian restaurants, but this was sorely lacking.

The manager's demeanor further contributed to the negative experience. Instead of addressing concerns or making the effort to create a pleasant environment for diners, their attitude was quite off-putting. It felt as though they were more interested in collecting payments than fostering a positive dining experience. Such a lack of professionalism is unacceptable, especially in the hospitality industry.

Overall, my visit to Amber Palace was disappointing on multiple fronts. From the overly sweet and watery food to the unsatisfactory hygiene standards and the unwelcoming atmosphere, it was an experience I do not wish to repeat. It’s unfortunate, as I had hoped to enjoy a delightful meal, but instead, I left feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. I cannot recommend this restaurant, and I urge potential diners to consider other options if they are seeking a pleasant...

Although we had a delicious meal here sadly the service was not the best and then ultimately when it came to payment my friend was told that his card payment had not gone through so to present again only to find out a couple of days later that the full amount had been taken twice. He made the restaurant aware and was promised a callback which never happened. On calling them yet again he was told they would refund but not via bank transfer, they would pay it in cash so he had to go there to collect it. Despite making them aware of various disabilities making this very difficult they were insistent that was the only way they could pay it back. After making the effort to get there, as the assistant was about to hand the cash over he received a call from the owner who had previously refused to pay via bank transfer. He was told by the owner not to pay the cash but instead to get the bank details and it would be paid by bank transfer!! Not at all impressed after the difficulties faced in getting there after having told them in advance. My friend then had to be called in order to give his bank details that were previously refused and told it would be refunded straight away. (This was already 4 days after the double payment was taken). To date (over 3 weeks ago) - no refund has been received despite contact on a number of occasions with the restaurant and the direct number of the assistant to whom the bank details were given is no longer...
