Nice building and view of the beach/sea. Unfortunately the service was absolutely minimal, the tables were filthy and the food was delivered with some of it still frozen - literally freezing cold and solid, which meant I was less bothered that the potions were so small that it appeared lost on the plate, and I personally don't look for big portions. The service follows a strict approach of no eye contact and if 2 or three words must pass their lips, it must be limited to an inaudible mumble.
The app to order from is awkward and unintuitive, but a good reminder that maybe you should switch to another app like 'just eat' or similar, and order something edible, maybe they would deliver to the beach where Pavillion customers on the balcony can longingly gaze upon the glory of your meal and compare it to the child's party sized regret flavoured grot they were given. Or maybe deliver to you in the Pavillion, the staff likely wouldn't notice, accepting the risk of standing out as the only table eating something decent, but they are so inattentive, the only risk would be if they try to deliver another tables food to you, which they did.
There are plenty of good reviews too, so maybe it's just poor luck. The good news is you're by the sea though, so just get some chips from one of the many superb...
Read moreWetherspoons has done a remarkable job renovating the Pavilion. It's an amazing building and a fantastic place to eat and drink. It's easy to criticise these chains, but the food and drink was good, was served quickly and was roughly 60% of the price you'd pay elsewhere.
Wetherspoons is about the only place now where I can afford to buy a steak and mine was a good piece of meat and perfectly cooked.
We downloaded the app and ordered that way. I have mixed feelings about this. It was very fast and convenient when doing a big order, and it meant that everyone got exactly what they wanted. It does feel a little inhuman; part of the fun of pubs is the interaction with the staff and you lose that. However, no one is forcing you to use it and you can order at the bar in the traditional way.
My one criticism is that the tables and floor were not being kept very clean. It took ages to find someone to clear the previous sitters stuff from our table, and when we did get someone, he was frankly dippy and half-hearted. He didn't spot all the mess on the floor. Shame...it would have been five stars otherwise.
It's obviously not the best place in Ramsgate for eating out but for what it is, and the price charged, there's not much that...
Read moreMost staff friendly, ages to get served at the bar, seagulls are a real pain if eating outside. Great seafront views. Have been back in several times early 2020 but not at peak times so it didn't take as long to get served, the food was good, the portions were good and always nicely presented. The alcohol is typical Wetherspoons prices, nice atmosphere and will definitely be going back but will choose our times. Been back in since lockdown has been eased, hand sanitiser on entry with an assistant explaining the procedure. Tables have been moved to avoid close contact. Been back once again, great service though dofficult for the staff. Food still good, different staff for cleaning, ordering food, ordering drinks, in fact the service is quicker than before lockdown. App friendly as well. Smaller printed menu and thrown after use. Been in yet again 08/2021 and had a burger, the onion rings were soft, no batter and full of oil, the burger was good but even a waiter couldn't open the sachets of sauce and had to get sissors, The waiter called Alfie was brilliant with a wicked sense of humour which made the meal that...
