DO NOT EAT HERE!!!
The food is simply disgusting !!
My partner and I went to watch the liverpool vs chelsea game and we had an unbelievably atrocious experience.
We thought we would order the steak and ale pie and the burger with cheese and bacon - BIG MISTAKE!!
the food was simply disgusting - when I asked the waiter what the meat content of the burger was, he sent over the manager.
So I repeated the question and he told me that he didn't know and had no idea and that he was a bit busy at the moment!
I explained to him that this answer was unacceptable and all he simply had to do is go and look at the packaging that the meat came from.
HE ACCUSED ME OF BEING CONDESCENDING TOWARDS HIM!
I couldn't believe it and almost lost my temper right there and then, however
I explained that as a paying customer I had the right to know what I was eating, I also explained that I could see the pub was busy (due to the football game) and that he could take his time finding out for me as I wasn't going anywhere because I was watching the game.
The guy could not have been more clueless when it comes to customer service and some serious training is required. Period!
MY PARTNER AND I WERE BOTH FEELING SICK AFTERWARDS AND WE BOTH THREW UP WHEN WE RETURNED HOME.
Seriously do not eat here - the food and the management are...
Read moreI'm not surprised that the reviews are so variable. It really does depend on what you are looking for and what you expect.
This is a chain pub with good value food, & special offers on drinks. Catering in the mid week daytime for an older clientele, the staff are friendly and helpful and it's possible to have a pleasant, quiet(ish) good value pint and / or cheap bite to eat. Be aware though that occasionally there may be one or two young kids not too closely supervised by their parents! (Not too uncommon in larger chain venues).
Daytimes at weekends the customers are more varied and live sports on big screen are shown.
Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights the focus changes to a young customer base with DJ, music, bouncers & very late opening.
The decor is traditional and not unlike a Wetherspoons. Cleanliness (including loos) can be variable.
So, my humble advice is to pick your time accordingly and, as a guy I know once said to me, "You can't expect a Rolls Royce for the price...
Read moreIf I could post zero stars I would. I don't know much about the venue, not been in for years but a staff member used to regularly give abuse and bully residents who live around the venue on a daily basis. It stopped through lockdown but the venue hasn't even been open a week and the staff member is already being hostile again. I know of other people making complaint but nothing is being done about this staff member, its just carrying on. I've heard post like this get abuse back because the staff and patrons stick up for each other but why can't residents have a peaceful life in their home without worrying about getting abuse when they leave their property. Also isn't this meant to be a family pub, funny how the staff shout obscene stuff in front of children to the residents. I wish I didn't have to post this but with no one caring about this staff member's behaviour, it is a...
