The Churchill Tavern — Restaurant in Thanet

Attended my uncles wake here, and I must say I was deeply disappointed with service from the bar staff particularly the female staff member…when asked they a man extremely small buffet was laid out that I would not say matched the price that was paid she simply shrugged her shoulders, when asked if they were going to provide plates for the food (non laid out) again she shrugged her shoulders and said “I don’t know” one of the guests had to go into town themselves to purchase paper plates from the shop…finally found this absolutely disgraceful since this event was for a wake and there was no compassion from this awful bar staff…you shouldn’t work with the members of public with that kind of attitude…not to mention this bar staff went on to barr a close family member for again mentioned the lack of food that was provided!...

A group of us, family and friends, went to have a couple of drinks and to play boardgames. We had a fantastic time, it is lovely and cozy with a warm atmosphere. There is an event space downstairs and there was a wedding reception on the evening we visited, but it did not at all interfere with our evening. This pub has a few of out of the way areas that provide cosy privacy for groups to enjoy. You can book these in advance or chance your luck. There is frequent live entertainment that I have been told is really good. We only visited the tavern side and did not venture into the restaurant area or order any food, so I dare not comment on that. Would recommend the...

I like this pub for a few reasons.... The beer is excellent - they always serve a fantastic pint in here. Nice rotation of guest ales too!

The decor is nice and rustic. Plenty of natural wood and brick on show and a really generous fire place in the winter. Very cosey.

Lastly, this pub has some great views out over the harbour and into the sun. Especially later in the day just before the sun goes down.

On the downside there is no immediate parking outside, there is no outside area to enjoy and it can sometimes be a bit quiet in here although I've only been during the afternoons ☝️😎

All in all a very good pub that I could easily spend hours in. God...
