Jel's Cafe — Restaurant in Tonbridge and Malling

Your service was unacceptable today. We were treated very rudely, like outsiders and ignored on quite a few occasions. Not only that but discrimination towards a friend of mine who had an accent, that even the waitress walked away from us mid sentence on ordering!

It's unprofessional not to be able to accommodate a simple request like splitting the bill. Then saying "I'm too busy, pay and go". When asking the manager politely to follow instructions he refused and said the same thing and rushed off. He kept giving us dirty looks as well. They pretended to not speak English to us and when there were other locals they recognised they spoke to them nicely, but treated us differently.

This place shouldn't be open if they can't communicate with people properly

We will not be returning due to the poor service and discrimination we received.

They were extremely lucky to get £15 out of us... We had the right to not pay after...

Fabulous café. First visit for me. Ordered cappuccino and a breakfast of poached eggs on toast.

Cappuccino was perfectly made (third-third-third) with a solid espresso base. And then the poached eggs arrived. Done to perfection. A rich welcoming yolk oozed softly over the toast. Poetry on a plate!

Very friendly staff.

Note: I am here two days after the 7.8 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes in Syria and SE Turkey. They have family in the Turkey and had been so worried about them. I'm pleased to say they are safe. But obviously they remain very concerned. If you read this, it may be nice to show our support with patronage of this fine...

Pretty good cafe with nice seating and atmosphere, as well as food being nice overall. My main gripe is the mega breakfast was supposed to have black pudding and bread and butter which didn’t come (realised later after we’d finished), and 9.50 is a bit steep for the quality of ingredients offered - all quite cheap, cash and carry sort of stuff. It also took ages to come out, which I can understand as it was quite busy but I noticed a few tables arriving after us got served first. Lastly, no salt and pepper or anything on the table, nor offered unless asked - service could be a bit better I think. Overall the place is decent, but could do...
