Fortune House has proven to be a true culinary gem with its exceptional Chinese cuisine. Our dining experience at this establishment left us in awe of the delightful flavors and impeccable service. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted warmly by the staff and seated promptly, setting the tone for a memorable evening.
Appetizers:
We started our culinary journey with a selection of appetizers that included Prawn Crackers and Salt and Pepper Chicken. The Prawn Crackers were crisp, light, and had a wonderful prawn flavor, making them an excellent start to our meal. The Salt and Pepper Chicken was a delight for our taste buds - crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with the perfect balance of seasoning that left us craving for more.
Main Course:
Moving on to the main course, we ordered the Crispy Chilly Beef and King Prawn Chowmein. The Crispy Chilly Beef was a showstopper! The beef was fried to perfection and coated in a delectable blend of spices, offering an explosion of flavors with each bite. The dish had just the right amount of spiciness, which added to its charm. As for the King Prawn Chowmein, it was a masterful combination of succulent prawns, perfectly cooked noodles, and an array of fresh vegetables. The flavors melded together seamlessly, making this dish a standout.
Crispy Duck:
One of the highlights of our meal was undoubtedly the Crispy Duck. The duck was flawlessly cooked, with a crispy and golden skin that encased tender, succulent meat. Served with pancakes and a variety of condiments, assembling each mouth-watering bite was a joy. The richness of the duck was beautifully complemented by the accompanying sauces, resulting in an explosion of flavors that left us mesmerized.
Overall Experience:
Fortune House not only impressed us with its delectable cuisine but also with its attentive and friendly staff. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, creating a perfect setting for a relaxing meal. The dishes were served promptly, and the presentation was visually appealing, indicative of the care and attention to detail put into each creation.
In conclusion, our dining experience at Fortune House was exceptional. The Salt and Pepper Chicken, Crispy Duck, Prawn Crackers, Crispy Chilly Beef, and King Prawn Chowmein were all outstanding dishes that surpassed our expectations. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an authentic and flavorful Chinese culinary experience. Fortune House truly lives up to its name, delivering a fortune of...
Read moreVisited on Sunday 7th July for the first time. Decided to have the early bird set menu. As it had prawn toast with it I explained that I had a mild allergy to prawns so could they please put this on a seperate plate. They didn't understand request right away but got there in the end. I also ordered the chicken curry but lady came and informed me that the chef had said that I couldn't have the curry sauce as they use the same oil to make it as they do to fry the prawns in. Bit taken aback about that but explained that I'd be fine with the curry - it's only if I eat an actual prawn that I have problems - just didn't fancy the prawn toast sitting beside my spring roll/samosa etc. However they steadfastly refused to allow ms the curry sauce which although I was annoyed about in light of recent allergy scares I did understand their take on this. I asked for the chicken curry to be given as a takeaway for my Daughter (which I ate once I got home and it was really lovely - just a shame I couldn't have ate with my partner but as I said - I understood their stance). All the food was really good, service a bit 'confrontational' and nothing to do with 'currygate' lol but mix up over boiled/fried rice. Instead of just apologising for getting it wrong the young ladh insisted on blaming me for mixing her up! As I was already not too happy this didn't help. However - as I say - the food was great & very good value and I will defo be returning. My worry is if someone were vegan or ordered vegetarian curry they would defo be getting curry cooked with oil that meat/prawns had been fried in as I specifically asked if they had another batch of curry sauce and was told no - the curry sauce is the same for all meals. Just think maybe they need to 'tighten up' on what their classing as vegetarian curry - doesn't affect me but sure lots of people could be upset...
Read moreHad a take away deal for 18 quid which was very reasonable. Order hot and sour soup which was ok not the best I have had but was decent, will probably try the chicken one next time. The starters were prawn toast, spring rolls and chicken curry samosa. I would say all were great quality, I have nothing bad to say. For mains I had sweet and sour pork and Szechuan beef. Both portions were above average in size well worth the money paid. The pork was a bit soggy by the time I got home but tasted good, perhaps order the sauce separate next time or ask them to fry the pork longer. The beef tasted ok but I wouldn't order it again, it's not bad but the sauce was too thick like jelly, it just wasn't my cup of tea. Lastly the egg fried rice was standard but again I would say the portion was pretty generous. I also ordered a portion of par far duckling which was not huge compared to the other dishes and tasted ok but I would prefer it to be fried a bit longer and the sauce was too salty. I think if you are going for the special deal it's a solid 9 providing you order the right stuff and tweak the dishes slightly as a special request.
Edit: ordered a meal for 2 again this time tried sweetcorn soup which is probably the better of the 2 soups available but again probably could be omitted. Sweet n sour pork with the sauce separate meant that it was still somewhat crispy when I got home and tasted great. Chicken in black pepper sauce was also spot on. Also got a 1/4 aromatic duck which was also very good. No complaints really, staff are friendly and accommodating to requests to tweak the meal. I also won a small prize from the lucky...
