Have been here many times and will go again.
The food is basically a taste sensation every dish I have ordered I have enjoyed and would recommend to anyone. With a wide selection of dishes individually or a choice of mezes the "Greek Meze Banquet" which I warn is not for the faint hearted is stunning.
"Greek Meze Banquet"
STARTER--
Pita bread(perfect Pita bread had to add that) with a choice of 4 dips. (TRY Skordalia-Mast potato mixed with Garlic, Olive Oil, Lemon and Parley)
FOLLOWED BY--
A mixed selection of meats and other tasty dishes including Haloumi and Aubergines with some rice. (everything in this section is amazing, even the rice which is by far my favourite rice in any restaurant full stop)
The Main A miniature portion of 4 main dishes. (which is a good way to try different things from the menu for next time)
Service is perfect and very polite. I admit it not cheap but the money is worth the price tag and there is an early bird menu. Could not recommend this...
Read moreWe decided to try Sokrates for our first restaurant meal out after having just moved to Sale from Birmingham. I have a soft spot for Greek food, but being vegetarians we have found in the past it can be difficult to find authentic and tasty veggie Greek food in the UK. At Sokrates we had a great experience.
We ordered the vegetable moussaka which comes served with a small portion of Greek salad, and the four dip selection which comes with a basket of hot pitta bread. We decided to share the good between us The moussaka was a very generous portion and easily fed the two of us. The flavour was incredible. A lovely warmth from the traditional spicing of allspice, nutmeg, clove, and bayleaf. The dips were also very tasty, I especially enjoyed the beetroot skordalia. It had a wonderful glow of garlic.
The interior is that of a homely traditional taverna, with plenty of tables of different sizes. The staff are friendly...
Read moreI enjoyed my experience in Sokrates, but to be honest, I went with high expectations after reading the reviews, which is not good. None talked about the ambient, the Mediterranean touch of the decoration or the fact that as soon as you enter, you would hear greek music and that was the main reason why instead of a 3 star review I am giving it 4 stars. The food is nice, or ok and as someone pointed out, maybe a little bit pricey for what you get (for ex. £4 for 3 falafels with a little bit of hummus, which I would either charge £3 or put at least another falafel or ad some more hummus). I had the kofta which also was ok. We were two, and had small soft drinks and ended up paying £25. Maybe the fact that it is centre sale makes it a bit more expensive. However, I would still say that it is...
