Okay, so here’s the deal. I only post reviews of places I love, or hate. And I love this place! It’s Sunday, midday, and we were just walking by and happened upon opening time. We had tried before to “drop in” on a Friday night with no luck, and now I know why!
Cool yet cosy vibe. Good selection of drinks, and tasty, rich morsels of deliciousness that are surprisingly filling.
We ordered the “Typhoon Shelter” style chips (awesome name or what), HK French Toast with Condensed Milk and Satay Beef Bun (a weekly special). I ordered a refreshing cider, and the missus had a Diet Coke. Our little one came armed with a fruit shoot, so we were ready for a light escapade.
The chips… OMG. Totally amazeballs! Sprinkled with crispy onions/chilli flakes, we gobbled the lot tentatively, each worried we’d be eating more than our fair share. The French toast had the three of us drooling as we were gobbling it down. The satay beef bun… nice piece of steak, flavoured to perfection. Caramelised onions and the peanut sauce blended the savoury chips perfectly with the French toast… Yum!
And then, washed down with a mildly sweet cider, while sitting in the sunshine on a Sunday afternoon on their stylish sofas. Brilliant!
Reasonably priced for a great experience and TASTY treats!
The service was just right… our toddler had her own plastic bowl and fork to tuck in at her own pace. Just the perfect...
Read moreA good place to visit before a long night out with friends. Not very large inside and whilst the place has only recently opened it doesn't look very new, but that's what Hong Kong looks like in reality. Very few seats were available which I assume is due to the poor layout which doesn't have the space for allowing idle chatter between the revelers as I've regularly done when I've been visiting Hong Kong. The staff are engaging and a joy to talk with and are all ex-HK residents and obviously still have their friends & family living there. The lack of an outdoors area doesn't help the place, neither the lack of heat and the random diners that you get in HK. Lack of space en-route to the WC's doesn't help the dining experience together with the menu which is sparse and nothing like the HK street food I would have expected. A different experience for Altrincham but one which hasn't gone far enough in my experience to provide a true picture of HK, a missed opportunity. I will visit Harcourt again as it is at least a good opportunity taking advantage of the HK residents who have moved to the Altrincham area and with a little luck will...
