I really don't get it. This place is in a good location (busy, affluent high street), it's been there for ages so it is not new business finding its way. You would think it would be good. However, it not only looks unappealing when you walk in, the sweet treats we've had from here are really unpleasant- they taste stale, not fresh, lack flavour, off putting textures, dry, looks like a child made it - no finesse, no evident skill. I'm pretty terrible in the kitchen but wouldn't struggle to knock out something far more enjoyable at home following a basic recipe. I'm sorry to be so negative, but I'd love a good local bakery and it's sad this is all Hale has to offer. Altrincham has plenty and they are all on a completely different level. I would have given a higher score but I then purchased a bacon roll and a coffee on a separate occasion. They were both awful. The bacon roll was moist and had a gooey consistency. The bacon itself was slimy. The whole thing was tasteless. The coffee was watery and also tasteless. And the service was not good. The person serving was in a very bad mood and was very grouchy.
So itās a real mixed bag. The pies are great. The bacon rolls and coffee...

The cakes are too nice to skip on which makes my January diet difficult! Iāve had a few of the new products hills have developed and enjoy them and I hope they continue to bring novel products to the store. There are a range of options for vegans, making going to the bakery a more accessible fun activity for people with dietary needs. Overall I think hills still continue to provide a standup bakery service which explains why they have been around for 100...
