Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Trafford

Everything was up to normal Costa Quality. The staff were polite and apologised to every customer for the closure of the toilet at the time and the short wait for drinks.

However, it's unprofessional and disgusting when you can hear and see two Costa employees, as they make your drinks, bad-mouthing their colleague whilst they were taking drive-through orders.

The individual was standing at the till going through the drinks and pricing for a customer on the drive-through, explaining the difference in price between a small and a medium, and the colleague stated "Why is he going through price...how much time is he losing by doing that"...he's helping a customer and giving them full customer service with their order. It was 6.30 pm with nobody in the queue in the Costa itself.

It was disappointing to see this behaviour after such a lovely conversation with the colleague beforehand. I understand you are stressed and it was close to the end of the day but that is no reason to treat a colleague the way you did.

This wasn't the only negative behaviour I saw aimed towards this individual whilst I was awaiting my drinks and I hope this individual sees sense and moves to a different location where their hard work is actually valued.

This is not the behaviour that you expect from Costa Staff and this behaviour isn't good...

I understand it’s Christmas time and it’s very busy but in the half an hour I was in this Costa today, it was chaos. The toilet was filthy like no one has bothered to check it all day and no toilet paper. I was asked at the till what I wanted and clearly stated two hot chocolates large (one terrys and one plain). I was asked if I wanted cream etc and said yes and they even asked if I wanted to stay in or take away and I said take away. The barrister made both hot chocolates in large coffee cups and I kindly explained I wanted to take them away. She pours them into take away cups but one is medium and so I ask why … they don’t do terrys in a large ….but the cup to sit in was a large one … either way, surely I should have been told this when I ordered it. Almost certain I’ve had Terry’s hot chocolates large in the past from Costa too. She then gave me no cream and when I asked for it, I was asked did I pay for it. Another staff member says “just give it her”.. .To make it all better, the hot chocolates were cold and it’s not as though Costa is cheap! I don’t mind paying if I get what I ask for. I don’t see the point in asking all the questions at the till if no one actually pays attention to it when...

*don't normally leave reviews but these guys have earned it. this is by far my favourite costa - i have been to many costa coffee shops all over the country but have never come across such enthusiastic, friendly and helpful staff. they are passionate about making sure that your order is right (in my case, they made me a new drink free of charge as i wanted a richly flavoured cinnamon cappuccino - and were adamant that i taste it before leaving the drive thru to make sure i was happy!). the staff here have honestly made my day on many occasions - both at the drive-thru and in store. they also make it a great environment to study in - they came over to let me know where all the plug sockets were as soon i got out my laptop and asked me to give them a shout if i needed anything. on one occasion - one of the staff members gave me a free drink + tiffin as a study fuel, which is just completely unheard of these days - honestly can't wait till lockdown is over so i can go back and study there! they set the bar high for all the other coffee chains as i haven't come across people as lovely as them! top service, they deserve 5+ stars....
