We booked a table for 7pm as we know it can get busy here, especially on a weekend. When we arrived 5 minutes before the hour, our table wasn't ready, understandable as we were early. This wasn’t a huge issue as we got a drink and sat in the bar area, however, we had still not been seated by 7:30. We asked a member of staff how much longer we would be waiting, and conveniently the table was ready straight after asking, with no apology for the delay. There was a live singer which was a nice addition to our experience, however, we were unfortunately seated in the small side room (with around 5 tables) near the entrance, away from the main restaurant and the better atmosphere. We could hear the singer, but would have preferred to be in the main restaurant. We love that this place offers both spanish and cuban tapas as well as other main dish options. To eat, we opted for some tapas dishes so that we could share them. We ordered; the hummus, chorizo lollipops, roja vieja, seabass, verdura jambalaya, belly pork and patatas bravas. The portions were of a good size and nicely presented. Most of the food was really tasty as well, although we did feel that the batter covering the chorizo lollipops was very soggy and quite bland. The hummus definitely needed another slice of bread for the amount of hummus. The roja vieja tasted absolutely amazing, the beef was cooked to perfection with so much flavour, however, this was only served with one small taco, which meant as we were sharing (which is what most people do with tapas) we had to half the taco meaning there was loads of meat for only half a taco. All of the other dishes were up to a great standard. This visit wasn't our first to Qubana and it won't be our last, but we hope that next time we will be in the...

!!! FOOD POISONING !!! That was one of the experiences that you can get only and Qubana you should be visited by a HEALT INSPECTOR especially when you serve pork. Pardon my french but i had to go home from work being sick and spend 2 whole days in bathroom. Been there before work to eat as that was my only meal for that day no time etc. cheap food tasteless poor service long waiting for everything when free staff were hanging by the bar chatting laughing and have a good time. Took abt 20 min for 2 basic starters. (They were ok’ish no surprises nothing special.) The qubana burger was a disgrace and humiliation for what you call a chef, the patty was overloaded with cummin (dont get me wrong i like cummin)and completely dry absolutely NO ONE has asked once how is the food (or if we would like some drinks etc.) i had only the chips and top side of the burger bun that was all that was comestibile and safe to eat. When we asked for the bill and try to tell the waitress about my burger she dismissed us when I showed her the burger and the fact i did not ate it just 2 bites as both of us tried the burger she did not listen she looked agitated she mumbled about the manager that did not show up. We had to make our way to reception and ask again twice for the manager which when told about our experience (obviously looking very pissed by the situation and we were kinda mistreated) I was SCOLDED by as i do not know how to eat and i don't have taste at all. (I wonder you talk to all your guests in the same way? Or you just discriminate?) We said that we will not pay for the burger, after all that hustle he have us £10 off the bill. I was not happy. McD above you...

Having ignored this place for a few years for no particular reason I finally gave the place a try on my latest visit home. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. In the space of a week I came here four times, for drinks and food.A Cuban themed restaurant and bar looking very smart and hitting way above anything else Wakefield has to offer. The drinks, of which I had several margaritas over the different visits, were the best in Wakefield. The food was absolutely gorgeous (great choice of varied dishes). Service was friendly, helpful and professional. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality. I imagine at peak times the place would get very busy so for meals it might be best to book in advance. They also have a terrace bar and also a private dining room in the old vault which doesn't cost any extra but booking advised. They also have live music in the evenings occasionally.I really can't fault this place, it really is one of the best restaurant/bars in Wakefield. Fourth visit... Everything still amazing apart from the margarita I had, not sure the bar person knew how to make it, another member of staff gave her a quick run through but it didn't taste the greatest and the presentation wasn't as good as previous visits. No doubt I'll be back to try again in the future. Fingers crossed. Fifth visit... Food still amazing, service still brilliant (lady with piercings, she was amazing, friendly, helpful and welcoming),the manager still makes a great...

Absolutely loved it ... Food was top notch . Well cooked, good quality, amazing quantity. Had the £42 sharing meat platter. Enough tapas dishes for 3 people. Includes 2 side dishes as well as the main smorgasbord of carne !. Rump steak was pink inside. Lamb was pink as well. Lovely spiced 'crust' to the succulent juicy pork dishes. Amazing "crackling" on one pork dish. House mixed salad was abundant, tangy & fruity. (Raspberry vinegar?) .. Also patatas Bravas & the Garlic cheesy potatoe to die for. Staff all very pleasant & happy . Server Dimitri (?) - very nice, professional & helpful. Working hard. Definitely recommend this place.... Even the semi naked older female with pert breasts & no pants under her black lacy trouser suit who made everyone forget not to stare.. ( Or covertly snap pictures, presumably to send to their bff's !) - Could be they were just trying to read her poorly done various tattoos. Even looking like this, though, she couldn't detract from the overall ambience of a nice restaurant. She was either a customer or a working girl plying her trade. Definitely showing off her wares ! (The poor bloke with her was busy on his phone all evening, so could probably be forgiven for not reminding her that outside is 'Clothes world' !) ...
