My fave pub in Wakefield, Great selection of real ales and ciders. The beers are brewed on site ! Fabulous interior, a former malting house from 1850 featuring low beams and cast iron support columns. Really warm welcome from the staff and local customers. I have added a lot of 360 degree photographs of the pubs so you an look around the amazing building. The entrance is located on Avison Yard which is a easy to miss. The bar is up the stairs and on the right. Highly recommend this pub if your looking for real ales, ciders and a friendly welcome. Dog friendly. Look forward to returning again next time I'm in Wakefield.

Very good brewpub about five minutes walk from Wakefield Kirkgate railway station. Eight cask beers - and two ciders - on handpump when I visited. There is an interesting mezzanine level seating area where the walls are adorned with old pub signs and historical information. There is an independent two and a half barrel plant brewery housed in the cellar of the original 19 Malthouse for Fernandes Old bridge Brewery based at Chantry Bridge which later became part of Beverley Brothers (Eagle Brewery).

Four of us visited on Friday PM 29th Nove.ber By some distance, one of the best bars or pubs i have visited for a while? Should be 1st on list for anyone visiting Wakey! Lizzie and Gail were fantastic hosts, and I would strongly recommend the beers brewed onside! If you're extremely lucky you may get a tour of the brewery I had the Firebrand IPA, well wroth trying if it's on whe you visit By a long way, the best pub on our visit

Hidden slightly down a bit of a dark alleyway, Fernandes offers a lovely relaxed atmosphere, beautiful decor (all the stained glass and old pub signs are fantastic) and an interesting selection of real ales (with 10 pumps). Has a lovely night trying to work my way down the bar and have enjoyed everything. The knockout beers of the night has been Mr Brian, Fernandes own. Says a lot when the favourite beers are the ones crafted in the cellar. Looking forward to coming back - thanks :)

Edit: The Mr Brian ran out and was replaced with Half Nelson, also a Fernandes home brew. Fantastic, in fact, even better than the last one....

Me (Rob) and T-E-N-D-A-I sat down for gin, and somehow it turned into the Second Coming of Cocktail Christ. 🤯✨ The man doesn’t pour measures, he pours miracles. Moses had a staff, but David has a bar spoon, and honestly — same level of power. 🪄🍋

Tendai kept calling me Sir… kept calling me Lord… but listen 👂 STOP. I’m just Rob. (Robert on Sundays if I’ve behaved. 👑➡️😇)
