Chunky Chicken — Restaurant in Wakefield

Disgraceful and disappointing !!

I’ve been a very good customer as they’ve been giving professional service until today when I called and requested I could order and pay £2 which is what they charge to deliver food anyway I live exactly 3 minutes away from this restaurant/takeaway and the guy in the phone clarified where I was as he knew the building. I explained I’m isolating with Covid-19 and I’m not allowed to go out of the house and I live alone but I’m only needing £6 worth of food + £2 delivery making it £8 total the guys refused to have my food delivered and requested if I want I can pick it up from outside their restaurant. Imagine!! 😳 We talk about ‘support small businesses’ but do they support us?? Anyway I got dressed up covered up as I had no choice but to pick my food up as I’ve been so hungry abs had lost my appetite the whole week from Covid-19 this is the first thing I felt like eating the second I got my appetite back, I made sure I was as safe and went waited to pick my food up I timed myself from my apartment to their restaurant and it’s just under 3 (Three) minutes I explained very well I had Covid-19 and repeated are you sure I have Covid-19? So what they did even after they’d seen me they stayed laughing while staring at me not sure they were laughing me but they kept going with their chit chat, 2 of the main guys (have worked there long enough probably part of the management) kept laughing instead of bring me my food I’m stood outside at the time they asked me to be there for, so they asked the only Black / African guy in their Team to bring me my food (probably because I’m black too) cause the other two guys were doing nothing but chatting and laughing while looking at me, The black guy sent to bring my order outside to me must have been either washing dishes or cooking as he was wearing an apron halfway and when he came out he had no gloves whatsoever, so I said to him ‘you do realise I have COVID-19 why ain’t you wearing a mask or gloves as you’ve gotta take my card to scan for payment’ and so on.… Anyways I don’t think I will EVER buy here ever again and if you’re buying here remember the guy sent to pick my order was barely covered up No Mask and No Gloves nothing!!

First time for me eating here, clean on arrival Very polite and friendly staff, we ordered chicken fillet half n half n spicy wings with mi fella. Food ready on time..they said 15 mins. They even said I could choose my own choc fudge cake lol and offered me cream nom nom.. 10/10 I'd defo go back and recommend. Just a small complaint.. The gent cleaning a table with the blue roll, cleaned another table with the same blue roll straight after and joined some used blue roll that some one had left on the other table to the blue roll he had in his hand, to carry on cleaning tables with. In total 3 tables..2 tables cleaned with someone's snot rag!! That's cross contamination right there as he didn't check to see if blood, snot or whatever was on the balled up blue roll before cleaning other tables with it. My fellas a bit shy so I said nothing,though I feel staff need to be aware of this. Dont let something as silly as this be your downfall. Over all Keep up the good work and I'll now eat my cake with...

Great food: the chicken steak (two 5 inch steaks) with rice is well worth the effort; grilled peri wings are always nicely done; the kids are addicted to their chicken filet burgers, always hit the spot for eat in / out - we usually take home

Comfortable seating: plenty of space to eat in with friends, ~20 people capacity; 4-5 semi booths available, and more comfortable

Great customer service: the guys are seasoned experts, friendly and polite; if you order there enough you’ll get some extras

Praying facilities: two mosques within walking distance
