I have never felt the need to post a negative review about a restaurant in Abersoch until this weekend. Having had gorgeous takeaway food from Deli Thai in the past, myself and my partner decided to eat in at the restaurant this week. When making the booking in person, we were greeted by a lovely lady who has served us in the past. She took a £20 deposit and was really lovely. However, on Friday evening (date of booking) we were greeted by a different member of staff who was incredibly rude. When we stated the name of the booking, it seemed as though she couldn’t recognise the name on the booking sheet. As my partner often gets called an alternative yet similar name, I decided to spell it out to save any further confusion incase the booking was made under that name by mistake (these things happen and that’s okay!). It was then that this woman said ‘I think I know how to spell * thank you very much’ rather abruptly. Myself and my partner looked at each other rather shocked yet decided to ignore what had just happened. As there were tables free outside and it was a very warm day, we asked if it would be possible to be sat outside. However, the same woman said ‘How do you think we feel working inside that kitchen’ in quite a sharp manner. As I work within hospitality myself, I appreciate that those hot summer days can be really difficult sometimes. However, the tone in which she spoke to us made us both feel really uncomfortable. When we did get seated outside, myself and my partner decided that we did not feel comfortable dining here. We decided we would rather lose our deposit than have any further contact with this member of staff. Again, I can’t believe I’ve had to write a negative review about a restaurant in Abersoch, but our experience here really shocked us and I don’t believe any customer should be spoken to in...
Read moreWe had not visited Deli Thai since the move from Botwnnog to Abersoch so we were excited to see if our favourite Thai restaurant had survived the move unscathed. We needn’t have worried – if anything, it has got even better.
While Botwnnog was hardly at the edge of the earth, Deli Thai’s new home feels far more accessible, even though I did miss all the parking that used to be available; a perfect excuse to drink gin and excellent wine instead!
The food and service were faultless – the care and attention given to both the preparation of the food, and by the front-of-house team were consistent across both a steady Wednesday and a packed-out Friday which says a lot. We only planned on a single visit but re-booked before leaving and were very glad we did; the steamed duck special was fantastic. Looking forward to visiting again soon
JULY UPDATE Having now visited several times since Deli Thai’s move to Abersoch, I feel confident to say that you can trust on the experience being excellent every time! We’ve found the food to always be absolutely delightful, the welcome warm and the service faultless – definitely always looking forward to our next visit! The start of each month now has a new highlight – seeing what wonderful dishes will have appeared on the new...
Read moreBeen following this on Facebook and was looking forward to our meal whilst on holiday . I booked in the week for this Saturday and paid the £20 table deposit ( which I fully understand) When we arrived tonight they had clearly forgot to reserve us a table as lots of puzzled faces n no record of our booking - however the payment was recorded on the ladies mobile so a table was made available - but not a great start .
It was busy and the service from the older waitress was good but there’s was a young lady who looked like a rabbit in headlights with no customer interaction whatsoever .
Starters were good .
I ordered the special which was Salmon Thai green curry - when it arrived it was clearly the base Thai green curry with a piece of salmon placed on top - so not even cooked in the sauce and it was uncooked. It’s not difficult to cook a piece of salmon but just to put it ontop of a base sauce and call it a special is poor
I sent it back and the lady accepted it wasn’t cooked -put off I asked for just a vegetable Thai green curry which came out quickly - veg were el dente to say the least .
Not a great experience and I won’t be going back - almost £70 for a less than average evening was very disappointing and I was so looking...
